Atlanta Braves @Chicago Cubs
Friday, 7/11 4:05 PM
Alex Wood, LHP (3-6, 2.77 ERA/3.46 FIP/3.34 xFIP) vs Jake Arrieta, RHP (5-1, 1.78 ERA/2.06 FIP/2.60 xFIP)
Wood has allowed two earned runs or fewer while completing at least seven innings in six of his 10 starts. The southpaw has produced three strong starts since experiencing a month-long stint in the bullpen to limit his innings.
Saturday, 7/12 4:05 PMArrieta did not get a decision in his last start against the Nationals, and also did not have as much drama as his two previous starts when he flirted with no-hitters both times.
Mike Minor, LHP (2-5, 4.54 ERA/4.53 FIP/3.58 xFIP) vs Edwin Jackson, RHP (5-9, 5.05 ERA/3.84 FIP/3.91 xFIP)
Minor has allowed a home run in 10 of his 13 starts, including each of his past six. The southpaw had also surrendered at least seven hits in five straight starts before limiting the Mets to two hits in seven innings Monday.
Jackson retired 13 in a row in his last start against the Reds, but he also struggled and had a tough time retiring anyone in the fifth. This will be his last start before the All-Star break.
Sunday, 7/13 2:20 PM
Julio Teheran, RHP (8-6, 2.57 ERA/3.35 FIP/3.71 xFIP) vs Travis Wood, LHP (7-7, 4.64 ERA/4.20 FIP/4.61 xFIP)
Teheran was humbled as he surrendered a career-high 11 hits and matched a career-short start of 3 1/3 innings against the Mets on Tuesday. The All-Star hurler had allowed three earned runs or fewer in 16 of his previous 18 starts.
Wood is hoping to finish the first half strong, and was encouraged after his last start, even though it was a loss. He hasn't gotten past the sixth in his last three starts. This will be his second career meeting against the Braves.
