Celtics, Nets, Cavs involved in 3-team trade

The Cleveland Cavaliers will trade Jarrett Jack to the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday as part of a three-team deal with Boston to create more salary-cap space for the pursuit of LeBron James, according to sources close to the process.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Nets have agreed to take on the contracts of Jack and youngster Sergey Karasev from the Cavaliers in a swap that also will see the Celtics acquire Brooklyn's Marcus Thornton, Cleveland's Tyler Zeller and a future first-round pick from the Cavaliers.

Cleveland will have to acquire at least one future second-rounder from either Brooklyn or Boston to complete the transaction, but the moves will give the Cavaliers significant financial flexibility, shedding Jack, Zeller and Karasev from their roster.

Thornton, Zeller, and a future 1st... Sounds like more assets to me.

    Go get Kevin love

Sully, olynyk, thornton, zeller, bass, smart, young, anthony, picks, trade exceptions, and cash

Some combination of those assets should net us K. Love. I hooe

Someone in the main forum said the C's were giving up their trade exception and a second round pick, but I haven't seen that confirmed yet. Also not sure what year Cleveland's pick is, but if LeBron really is going back we can assume it will be a late first rounder.

We only give up a trade exception.

Yup, and we get 2016 Cavs pick. Top ten protected through 2018, unprotected in 2019.

Sounds like a pretty great deal for the Celtics. We give up essentially nothing and in return we get a future 1st rd pick, Zeller, and Thorton. I like it.

I am still not a fan of the idea of giving up the farm for Love though. I don't see any speculated combination of rondo/love winning a ring here in boston

I have a feeling this is setting up to be the deal of the offseason. Boston now has more assets to get Kevin Love. We have a combination of Green, Olynyk, Sullinger, Bass, Thornton, Zeller, Young, Anthony, several 1st round picks, and I believe a couple trade exceptions(I think Pierce's got traded in this deal) to get a deal done. Obviously we aren't giving up all of those pieces (please no Young &#128591 but there's more on the table now to choose from for MN. And I feel like we're giving up less since 3 of those pieces we got for essentially nothing.
I now think LeBron goes back to Cleveland. Cleveland guys confident, pictures of Nike setting up a LeBron "banquet", hometown rumors, etc.
I just think that's how it all unfolds, with Love in Celtic Green and LeBron back with the Cavs.

So if James goes back to CLE, Boston would basically get the unprotected '19 1st rounder since the '16-'18 are top 10 protected.

If CLE gets LJ they have huge icentive to trade Wiggins for Love IMO. Reports are he'd re-up in CLE if he was playig alongside LBJ. Zeller gives us a young C to add to the rotation and help keep Sully/KO's minutes there limited. Thornton has no purpose other than maybe being used as an expiring contract in a trade.

Yeah, this smells of LeBron and Love in CLE. Also speculation that Ray Allen's agent has been in contact with CLE as well. Thats where I think you see a Wiggins/Waiters/multiple picks to MIN for Love.

I don't mind this trade at all right now, just for the fact we get another 1st rd pick and Zeller. Who is really going to play C for us? Zeller is still young and has some potential.

Nice, another 1st rounder. Interested to see what Zeller can do.

No they basically get the 2016 first round pick because CLE wont be a bottom 10 team with Lebron on it.
    Boston Sports!!

Celtics need to stay the course, rebuild and trade Rondo.
