The Raiders were one of 11 or 12 NFL teams in attendance at the workout for supplemental draft prospect Lakendrick Ross as first reported by Draftdiamonds.com. Ross is a massive 6-4, 366-pound defensive tackle out of Virginia-Lynchburg.
He played at Virginia-Lynchburg in 2012 and was transferring to Morgan State but was ruled ineligible so he opted to hire an agent and declared for the supplemental draft instead.
Other teams also said to have attended the workout include the 49ers, Bears, Cardinals, Chiefs, Colts, Eagles, Falcons, Patriots, Rams and Texans.
The interest in a player of his size is understandable. Adding to his intrigue is his surprising athleticism for such a large man. As shown here with Ross dunking a basketball:
So hard for a supplemental guy to keep up. But, a run stuffing, two man taking DT would be one of the easier positions to learn, but will more than likely be sitting on the PS for a year. we got Ellis in the 4th, 4th-5th at best.
I would pass on him in any early rounds. He needs a lot of development that I don't think we could give him. He did not impress me needs a lot of work. He has the physical tools but so do many people who don't make it in the NFL. If he is still there around the 5th or 6th round however I would consider it..
Holy schnikes.....just read on ESPN this cat benched 225 lbs 47 times!?!?!?!?
That is an incredible feat. The record is 51 by Justin Earnest back in 1999, 47 would put him at third right behind Stephen Paea who had 49 in 2011. Still, that by itself doesn't warrant spending a pick on him.
