    Shump and Amare to Philly?

So the Newark Star Ledge reported purported trade talk with Philly for Shump and Amare.

    http://www.prosportsdaily.com/articl...rt-311987.html

The Bleacher report says this is a terrible idea.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...-iman-shumpert

    Specifically, the Bleacher Report says:

"The only tangible difference this trade would make for New York is the opportunity to get under the luxury tax threshold, giving them access to the full mid-level exception of $5.2 million and the ability to add free agents through sign-and-trades."

Well I think that's a damn good reason to make that trade. Thoughts?

Not only for that reason ,
    But deep down ,
I believe that melo will only resign with the knicks if amare is gone .

He just dose not want to admit that to anyone because of there friendship .
He doesn't want to look like the bad guy.

But I think Phil knows this and will
Do whatever it takes to get rid of amare and get back the best value ,
And if that means we get the full mid leval so that way we can bring in pau.

    Wow!

If Phil can pull this off and stil resign melo than that would be one hell of an offseason .

    Shump and Amare to Philly?

Maybe pay told him he would take the mid level. And being able to sign and trade is a nice luxury to have but I don't want to trade shump

I would hate to lose shump to so we can finally rid ourselves of amare's contract, but I would pul the trigger, depending on what we get back.
And as long as Jackson doesn't get hoodwinked in to giving up to much.

What we would get is the opportunity to compete this yr, by signing a nice piece this season, & not having to wait another season, when Stats contract expires. A move tht potentially helps keep Melo in a Knick uniform is already worth it for me. we're deep at the SG position, so someone was bound to be traded anyway

Yash!! What's up? I hope you are well.
Something doesn't make sense to me about giving away a good, young player just to get rid of a guy you are getting rid of at the end of the season and possibly at the trade deadline.

I understand everyone's argument but why not a little patience and wait it out?
Do people think we are going to the finals if we do this?

Welcome back dinner for Leo. We are waiting patiently. Hurry the F up! These babies don't taste as good cold.

Unless my numbers are off I think we have close to 24 million in cap space if we did this

Unless there is something specific that PJ has in place... this team needs to stop moving its assets just to remove a player from the roster(especially an expiring). Trading Shump just for the hope that someone is going to come for the MLE is ridiculous..look at the contracts these guys are getting this off season..who are we really going to get to help us that much??

If Phil has something in place that helps this team now..I am all for it..to do this for some HOPE..no thanks

Are you talking if Melo leaves too?

Carmelo is already off the books so if we sign a max player we can sign melo right after but I think we have to renounce his rights to do that

Correct..which in turn means if you signed a max player..Melo would be gone..or if you signed Melo..you would not be able to sign another Max.
