    Cardinals (47-42) vs Pirates (47-41) July 7-10

Pittsburgh Pirates @ St. Louis Cardinals

Monday, July 7, 7:15 PM CDT , Busch Stadium

    Charlie Morton, RHP

The sinkerballer ended a personal two-start losing skid in his latest outing, holding the D-backs to one run on five hits in six innings. Morton lowered his season ERA to 3.30 in the process.
    Adam Wainwright, RHP

Wainwright became the NL's first 11-game winner and ERA leader with 7 2/3 scoreless innings on Wednesday. He has not allowed a run in eight of his starts and half of his 26 runs allowed came in two games. He's scattered the other 13 among 15 outings.
Tuesday, July 8, 7:15 PM CDT , Busch Stadium

    Vance Worley, RHP

Worley took a no-hitter into the sixth inning against Arizona in his previous start. However, it went downhill in a matter of batters as he surrendered three runs and picked up his first loss of the season.
    Carlos Martinez, RHP

Martinez has made four starts since joining the rotation, and the Cardinals have won all four. He has a 2.45 ERA as a starter and is now stretched out to where he can push toward 100 pitches. To this point, 88 pitches remains his season high.
Wednesday, July 9, 7:15 PM CDT , Busch Stadium

    Gerrit Cole, RHP

The hard-throwing righty left his latest outing with right lat soreness after five innings (80 pitches). It was a cautionary move, as Cole said he "should be fine" after the start -- just his second since a June DL visit (right shoulder fatigue).
    Lance Lynn, RHP

Lynn proved again to be resilient as he followed up a two-inning, six-run start with 6 2/3 scoreless innings Friday against the Marlins. Lynn has been dealing with a blister on his middle finger, but said it doesn't pose a major problem.
Thursday, July 10, 6:15 PM CDT , Busch Stadium

    Edinson Volquez, RHP

Volquez pitched around some early command problems to hold the Phillies to just one run in seven innings in his latest start. His scoreless streak was halted at 16 innings, but the righty has allowed one or no runs in four of his past five starts.
    Shelby Miller, RHP

Miller worked out of jams in his Saturday outing, going 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on nine hits. The right-hander has been working through some kinks, as his previous outing had been one of five innings in which he allowed six runs.

It would be great if we could go ahead and get our heads above water and start winning more consistently

Savvy move by Wong to drop that to make sure Morton comes up in that scenario. Get him out of the game!

I swear. There are no 2 worse base running combos in baseball than Allen Craig and Jon Jay. Those 2 are always making bad outs. More so Jay

Good times. Great pitching game, Wainwright made it work without his best stuff. Freeman pitched through adversity (good learning experience there) and Neshek was Neshek
