    Cubs/A's talking big trade

#Cubs in serious talks with #Athletics on big trade, sources tell me and @jonmorosi. If completed, Hammel and/or Samardzija would go to A’s.
Addison Russell’s name has been discussed with #Cubs, sources tell me and @jonmorosi. He is not playing today for #Athletics’ Double A club.

Not for Addison Russel, I don't think.

Russell doesn't go for just Hammel.

Russel is a strange get. Granted, he's a wonderful prospect. But we're fairly loaded with INF prospects. Bryant, Alcantara and Baez.

I guess it almost guarantees Bryant to the OF as well as Alcantara?

Russell, Baez, Alcantara, Bryant and Castro is a crowded infield. Lots of talent though and obviously Alcantara and Bryant can be moved to the OF.

For Russell? Would have to be Shark. And even then I don't see A's willing to move him, evwen for Shark, Russell is awesome.

He's sitting tonight. He just had an off day the other night.

There's no reason other than a trade for him to be sitting, I don't think.

Really depends on whom we're sending. For Jeff Samardjiza, he's probably not enough by himself. For Jason Hammel? Sure.

But I doubt the Cubs deal a B+ prospect, with Hammel for Russell. We also aren't seeing any major Cubs-prospect omissions tonight, I don't think.

I would be thrilled if we somehow get Russell for Shark. I would absolutely love it. We can shift guys around.

Anyone find this strange that this comes on the same day Jason Hammel gets pissed about his pitch counts?
