Is Garth Snow out of his mind?

I mean it. That or delusional.

Did anyone hear the Joe & Evan interview? If you can listen to the whole thing with special attention to the parts about Vanek, then you'll know what I mean. You can't even make this stuff up and unfortunately Joe & Evan didn't call him on it. When asked to explain the rationale about the trade for Vanek, he only talked about giving up Moulson and how he was a pending free agent just like Vanek and didn't mention the draft picks. Then later in the interview, he patted himself on the back because he was able to trade up in the draft with a pick that he got from trading Vanek away. What he neglected to mention, of course, is that he gave up way more value in draft picks when he traded for Vanek than when he traded him away.

We offered Moulson, a 1st, and a 2nd for Vanek.

Garth called Moulson's agent, asking for a price. Snow didn't like the price so he traded Moulson for a better player in Vanek. The intention was to lock Vanek up with a contract, but if he couldn't, he'd get that value back at the deadline.

At the deadline, Vanek was traded to MTL for Sebastian Collberg & a 2nd round pick.

Garth had all the intentions to lock Vanek up... He was a better player then Moulson, and he arguably made JT better with the puck. I've never seen JT be as creative as he was with Vanek then how he did with Moulson.

Snow tried his best to resign Vanek, sometimes stuff just doesn't work out.

exactly, some Isles fans just want to $&!^ on Garth no matter what he does

it was a calculated risk. nobody really gave up much at the deadline, Vancouver was desparate to move Kesler and couldnt.... Vanek opening his mouth certainly didnt help matters

How is it not relevant that he lost an extra high pick in these moves?

My problem with Garth in this is not that the move didn't work out per se, but that he's so arrogant that he can't admit that it didn't work out.
