    Tracking Isaiah Thomas

Post updates/rumors/reports in here pertaining to Isaiah Thomas and his Free Agency.

Free agency about to begin in less than 5 hours and seems like Isaiah Thomas is floating under the radar. Not much chatter on him thus far.

My guess is that for many teams Isaiah is not a first target.

Jason Jones: No meeting between Isaiah Thomas and Kings set yet. Team might let him look at offers first Twitter @mr_jasonjones -
Jon Santiago: Per source close to the soon-to-be free agent, Isaiah Thomas had no meetings scheduled yet w/ potential suitors as of yesterday. Twitter @itsjonsantiago

Not really a rumor but it involves Isaiah and free agency

    Jon Santiago @itsjonsantiago
On @NBATV free agency special, Isiah Thomas says he can see Kings not matching an offer for Isaiah Thomas and him changing teams.

    Sounds like nothing of substance.

Heard things about Isaiah Thomas to the Pistons in a possible S/T, right around same time as Josh Smith speculation

Thanks for those posts Plague. That's exactly how this thread should be used.

If true more than what we have been hearing.

Report: Isaiah Thomas has interest from Pistons, Heat, Mavs, Suns, Lakers
By James Herbert | NBA writer
    July 1, 2014 12:03 am ET

Isaiah Thomas' suitors in restricted free agency will include the Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers, according to Aaron Bruski of ProBasketballTalk:

The Pistons, Heat, Lakers, Mavs and Suns have all expressed interest, with the Pistons showing the most interest to date and numbers starting in the three-year, $24 million range. Talks with teams in playoff contention have started in the $6-7 million per-year range.

Thomas is an efficient, score-first point guard who is deadly on the pick-and-roll and is improving as a floor general. He competes defensively, though he is only 5-foot-9, which scares some front offices. He averaged 20.3 points and 6.3 assists per game last season, the best of his career.

The Pistons are an interesting, up-and-coming team, and he would make a lot of sense for new president and head coach Stan Van Gundy. It might mean Brandon Jennings, acquired just last summer, would be put on the trading block, though.

Thomas would be a steal for the Heat, but would likely have to accept much less than fair market value. Thomas was a Lakers fan growing up, and Los Angeles does not yet have its point guard of the future. The Mavs just traded Jose Calderon and Shane Larkin, and would give Thomas a good shot at finally making the playoffs.

The Suns, with Goran Dragic and (probably) Eric Bledsoe and Tyler Ennis already on the roster? I don't get that one.

Remember, though: the Kings can match any offer. It's unknown at what point they'd be priced out.

Here is Aaron Bruski's original article that was written about 30 minutes before free agency.....I wonder how much of these rumors was made up by IT agent to elevate his value to the Kings.

Pistons, Mavs, Lakers and Heat looking hard at restricted free agent Isaiah Thomas

Restricted free agent Isaiah Thomas is drawing interest around the NBA.

Sacramento Kings starting point guard Isaiah Thomas has beaten the odds for his entire basketball career and now he’s set to get his first big payday.

The Kings recently extended a qualifying offer to Thomas making him a restricted free agent, and league sources tell PBT that as many as five teams have expressed interest in making an offer to steal away the point guard.

The Pistons, Heat, Lakers, Mavs and Suns have all expressed interest, with the Pistons showing the most interest to date and numbers starting in the three-year, $24 million range. Talks with teams in playoff contention have started in the $6-7 million per-year range.

Thomas averaged 20.3 points and 6.3 assists per game last season while hitting 45.3 percent of his shots. He ranked second for the Kings in win shares with 7.7, just behind DeMarcus Cousins at 7.9 and ahead of Rudy Gay at 4.5, with the rest of the team far behind the trio.

Last season, Thomas also became the 29th player in league history to have averaged 20 points and six assists in a year with a 20.0 Player Efficiency Rating (PER). The Kings were 3.9 points per possession better defensively with Thomas on the floor last season.

    Interesting

    Alex Kennedy @AlexKennedyNBA
The Boston Celtics were first team to call restricted free agent Isaiah Thomas when free agency started, per source. Danny Ainge called.

Jennings, but I certainly wouldn't be excited about it. Jennings is better than any PG we can get in free agency. If we want to compete this season, we would need Jennings as opposed to getting nothing. All that being said, it's probably irrelevant. Jennings makes over $8 million a season, so we would be better off matching an offer for IT than taking back Jennings.

Yes, but according to rumors Rondo wants a insane amount of cash next season. I am not sure if it would be worth hit. I am personally not a Rondo fan but if we can somehow get Landry off the books Rondo may be worth a 1 year rental.

I read Rondo wants a $100 million contract. I like Rondo a lot, but not $100 million a lot.
