New York Mets @ Atlanta Braves
Monday, 6/30 7:10 PM
Zack Wheeler, RHP (3-8, 4.45 ERA/3.28 FIP/3.34 xFIP)vs Alex Wood, LHP (3-5, 2.60 ERA/3.14 FIP/3.03 xFIP)
Fresh off his first shutout, Wheeler lasted just two innings against the A's on Wednesday. He gave up six runs in two innings to take the loss. Wheeler, though, is far better on four days rest (2.34 ERA, 1.04 WHIP) than five (7.45 ERA, 1.86 WHIP).
Wood had a banner day in his return to the rotation on Wednesday, pitching seven shutout innings against the Astros. He has given up two earned runs or fewer in seven of his eight starts this season.
Tuesday, 7/1 7:10 PM
Daisuke Matsuzaka, RHP (2-2, 4.08 ERA/4.08 FIP/4.92 xFIP)vs Mike Minor, LHP (2-5, 4.50 ERA/4.30 FIP/3.47 xFIP)
Matsuzaka made one costly mistake when he hung a slider to Gregory Polanco in his last start. Polanco crushed the pitch for a three-run homer, and Dice-K picked up his second loss of the season.
On June 4, Minor had a sparkling 3.07 ERA through his first seven starts. But in the four starts since, the lefty has posted a 7.36 ERA. In his last start, Minor's command issues gave way to five runs in six innings vs. the Astros.
Wednesday, 7/2 7:10 PM
Jacob deGrom, RHP (1-4, 3.62 ERA/4.02 FIP/4.05 xFIP)vs Julio Teheran, RHP (7-5, 2.34 ERA/3.23 FIP/3.57 xFIP)
deGrom followed up his first career victory with another solid outing Friday night in Pittsburgh. He went 6 2/3 innings and gave up just two runs. In his last two starts, the rookie has a 1.32 ERA.
Teheran effectively negotiated a treacherous fourth inning in his last start, and held Philly to one earned run in seven innings. After allowing seven runs in a June 11 start vs. Colorado, Teheran now has a 2.05 ERA in his last 22 innings.
