The Official 2014 Off-Season Thread Part II

    Five possible Knicks targets
    Pau Gasol
Versatile 7-footer has raved about Phil Jackson’s return to NBA as president and needs out of L.A. Averaged 17.4 points and 9.7 rebounds last season. Jax and Jose Calderon will plead for him to take a sharp discount with chance to play with his brother Marc in 2015-16.
    Kris Humphries
Likes New York a lot. A bruising big who could make nice complement to Samuel Dalembert.
    Jordan Hill
Former Knicks first-round pick traded for 2010 cap space has developed into an active rebounder and at least fits the price range as viewed as backup power forward.
    Spencer Hawes
With Marcin Gortat out of price range, perhaps very serviceable 7-foot-1 Cleveland pivot would want to out of Ohio for the big lights of Broadway.
    Jason Smith
More realistic signing. With Pelicans, 7-foot forward showed he has mid-range jumper and can block shots.

Hawes to me seems like a very good triangle big man option. Can pass from the high post and shoot the **** out of the ball.
The value of elite scoring ability, by Phil Jackson:

"This is a guy, we recognize his talent, and his skill is the kind of skill and talent that gets you through playoff games where things get sticky, grind-out, and basketball becomes a force game and suddenly you need to have a player who has the capabilities of scoring with someone hanging on them in a situation that’s critical. He’s one of those players, one of the few players who can do that.”

Jordan Hill wouldn't be terrible... he could be actually a nice addition... could a S&T work out?

    Lakers get: JR Smith, Bargani
Knicks get: Jordan Hill, Pau Gasol

PG: Calderon - Larkin - Murray
SG: Shump - Hardaway JR - Ellington
    SF: Anthony - Early
PF: Hill - Tyler - Odom
    C: Gasol - STAT - Dalenbert

Melo and Gasol would be pretty tough for opposing teams.

the x factor is bargs and amari.. I think the change in coaching philosophy, point guard, and center. has made the knicks a 40-45 win team. the knicks need a back up pg. play melo at the 3 more than the 4.
if the knicks can trade bargs or amari (highly unlikely) maybe at the trading deadline. but who knows.
I think it would take shump or hardaway mixed with bargs and tyler and someone else...if it be jr smith well be it. phil has to find a package palatable enough to trade amari or bargs....
was phil playing chicken saying melo and amari cant play together, is he going to try and make it work...

I know im from another planet by saying this but I would sign metta world peace.
    sorry for rambling.

if we get pau at 5 mill we'd have a max slot open along with melo

kevin love is my top choice to come here lmao at people saying he won't be available he hasn't been traded yet and even if he does he will still opt out to be a free agent that's the only way he could get extra years and the only team he would even go to is the dubs but they would have to give up klay but if they give up klay I don't see them being a threat in the west especially with kerr being a first year coach love would definitely come here over anywhere else if we get pau and win around 50 games you guys need to have faith in the knicks 2015 is a long way away

Love doesn't have to sign any extension, if he doesn't want to.
