Big, quick and calm, Soderstrom doesn’t overplay in net and has a .915 save percentage, good for third overall in the North. Draft eligible in 2014

    Scouting Report:
Soderstrom was excellent for Sweden at the U18s and elevated his game this season with Djurgarden J20. He possesses a big frame and good net coverage without over-challenging, not one to play outside of his crease often. Utilizes his size well to see around traffic and never takes his eye off the developing play. Lateral movement and extension in the butterfly is good. Doesn’t show willingness to get out and play the puck... hesitation in his ability. Some control issues in lateral movement that will be refined as he adds explosiveness and strength to his lower body. Soderstrom proved to have that game-breaking ability that he showed throughout the U18 World Championships. His frame and technical skills are intriguing and show good potential for the next level when looking at his entire package that he brings to the table.

ISS Scout S.Cocker: “Soderstrom possesses an incredible total package as a goaltender… raw frame, controlled lateral movement and a calm, focused demeanor between the pipes. Seems to elevate his game when he is needed the most. Could be a riser come Draft day”.

ISS Scout O.Lahdesmaki: “Calm, well postured goaltender, pays attention to the details. Good coverage on net, while glove/blocker are quick. Some inconsistency during U-18, but was solid when it mattered the most”.

    NHL Potential:
Possesses a good projectable frame and raw skill-set to be an interesting development case

I like this pick a lot, tremendous value in the 4th round.

I don't blame for Garth taking 2 goalies with back to back picks - Poulin & Nilsson didn't look the best last year, and he's restocking the farm.

Poulin is no longer a prospect, and we have no clue if Koskinen is going to come back to us (Currently playing in KHL)

These 2 goalie picks give us prospect pool depth. I'm okay with it. We also have a better shot at this guy coming to the NHL then the Russian imo.
