    Hornets Free Agency Thread

What direction would you like to see us going in in FA? Hopefully we make a serious run at Stephenson.

    Gortat
    Stephenson

    Maybe Hawes?

    In that order.

I put some realistic free agents out there with Gordon Hayward and McRoberts being the only feasible restricted free agents we could go after.

    Guards:
    Jimmer
    Devin Harris
    Evan Turner
    Ramon Sessions

    Forwards:
    Gordon Hayward
    Caron Butler
    Trevor Ariza
    Luol Deng
    Josh McRoberts

    PF/C:
    Dejuan Blair

Here's the roster I'd like to see realistically, starters in bold:

    PG: Kemba, Harris, Sessions
    SG: Henderson, Hairston, Neal
    SF: Ariza, MKG, Taylor
    PF: McRoberts, Vonleh, Zeller
    C: Jefferson, Blair, Biyombo

It will take a fair amount to get Ariza and to bring McRoberts back. But we'll have some left over money to go after Sessions, and Blair.
The weak spot remains at shooting guard, but Hendo would start getting more room to slash with the floor being so spread. MKG might be a number 2 pick, but he's no starter. I like him more coming off the bench with some energy as a lockdown defender. There would be a lot more versatility with our backcourt if this were to play out.
The frontcourt would be pretty versatile as well as you could play with any combination of those 6 players. Blair can play C and PF though he's only 6'7'', there's still plenty of height among the rest.

The NBA rule is you can have 15 on your roster, but can only dress 13. Biyombo, Taylor, and Neal will likely be duking it out to see who's in a uniform and who's wearing a suit.

I think that roster could net enough wins for a 3 or 4 seed in the East.

How about Nelson? He'd be a huge upgrade at backup PG.

I don't know about Jameer, Kemba is already on the smaller side and I don't think we can bring in someone shorter than him. I think Sessions is definitely coming back though. Another guy we could land is Parsons from Houston. He's a restricted free agent, but i doubt Houston will do much to sign him since they're trying to get rid of cap space.

Hopefully we are about to swoop in on Stephenson since he and the Pacers have reached an impasse.

I think Deng will want more money than we need to pay someone to come off of the bench.

Someone was going to give him a max deal. Meh, if George Hill makes $8M then Hayward deserves at least twice that lol.

mcroberts signed with the heat the other day. I'd start Hayward, if the jazz don't match, over MKG.
even though i've heard good things about MKG's shooting this off season I like him better for now coming off the bench as a high energy guy and lock down defender. I'm sure that coach will allow plenty of time for MKG and Hayward to share the court together with a bigger line up.
but i think the jazz are going to match and our only shot at hayward would be a sign and trade including one of zeller or hendo and a first rounder.
