Exclamation Kings Draft Nik Stauskas #8 Overall

    2014 NBA Draft Combine:
    Height w/out shoes: 6' 5.25"
    Height w/shoes: 6' 6.5"
    Weight: 207 lbs
    Wingspan: 6' 7.75"
    Standing Reach: 8' 6"
    Body Fat %: 12.1
    No Step Vertical: 29.0"
    Max Vertical: 35.5"

I don't think we gave Nik Stauskas much of a welcoming For most of us, this wasn't our first option but I trust that our front office has a distinct plan to get us back to the good ol' days. Stauskas is an amazing shooter, but he's also underrated in pretty much every facet of his game. He gets pegged as JUST a 3 point specialist, but he's very competitive and does more than just shoot.

Now that we've had some time to think about this, what's your overall assessment of the Kings drafting Stauskas? I honestly think the Kings are looking for an up tempo run and gun squad. Also, maybe Malone influenced this pick heavily by looking for a Klay Thompson type player.

When it came to our pick I would of been happy with either Vonleh or Stauskas. I was not excited about Ef Payton. I don't like guards who can't shoot outside. Like most rookies I expect him to struggle, but by season 3 I am betting we have a excellent SG in Nik Stauskas.

Kings Draft Nik Stauskas #8 Overall

I'm coming around on stauskas he plays a lot like steph curry in that he is quick but not overly fast with the ball, can shoot off the dribble and he's awesome in a pick n roll

Fan of the kid, hope he works out. I loved the Kings during the C-Webb era, it would be cool to have a rooting interest in the Kings again.

With how the offense was at Michigan with a ton of pick n rolls I really think the kings are going to try and groom him into being a point guard like a Steph curry. Yes that's saying a lot but with Nik's skill set he can develop into that kind of player. Call me crazy but I will hopefully be able to look back at this post and say told ya so

I hope you're right as well, but I just don't see the craftiness in his ball handling to be a primary PG. Regardless of their plans for Stauskas, Kings need to find another PG other than Thomas.
