New York Mets @ St. Louis Cardinals
Monday, June 16, 7:10 PM CDT , Busch Stadium
Jacob deGrom, RHP
Carlos Martinez, RHPJacob deGrom is still winless in six starts. The rookie went 5 2/3 innings in his last outing against the Brewers, scattering three runs on a walk, nine hits and four strikeouts. He hasn't finished six innings in each of his last two starts.
Tuesday, June 17, 7:15 PM CDT , Busch StadiumMartinez has longed to be starter in the Majors, but 50 of his 51 appearances during his first two seasons with the Cardinals have been out of the bullpen. He'll get a chance to make a start in place on of Adam Wainwright, who has battled tendinitis.
Jon Niese, LHP
Michael Wacha, RHPIn four starts since recording his last victory, Niese has zero decisions despite a 3.05 ERA, averaging more than seven innings per outing. He'll take his next crack against the Cardinals, whom he beat with 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball in April.
Wednesday, June 18, 12:45 PM CDT , Busch StadiumEntering his last start, Wacha hadn't allowed more than three runs in any of his first 13 starts. That trend halted when he allowed four in the fourth vs. the Rays on June 11. He has struggled to get support, going 4-5 despite a 2.88 ERA.
Bartolo Colon, RHP
Lance Lynn, RHPColon continued to be a beacon of consistency with 7 1/3 innings of two-run ball against the Padres on Friday. He has struggled on the road this season (5.40 ERA, 1.48 WHIP), but kept the Giants to one run in 5 2/3 in his last outing away from home.
Battling command issues and big innings in his first two starts of June, Lynn turned in a two-hit, eight-inning scoreless outing his last time out against the Nationals. Lynn altered some mechanics after he felt he had tipped pitches in Toronto.
