Who Is This Travis d'Arnaud Guy

I haven't heard much about him, but he's tearing it up in AAA Vegas. In 29 AB's he's hitting .414 with 5 HR and 10 RBI.

I realize he only has 2 doubles which makes me wonder if maybe the homers are just getting caught up in the Oklahoma City jet streams.

Does anyone know about him? Could he be the real deal? I mean, he's putting up Mike Piazza type numbers. I'm psyched that this kid could be the masher we've been looking for behind the plate since 2005.

You pronounce his name "Dar No", if that helps.

Last time we brought up a guy who had been raking unexpectedly in AAA was Bobby Abreu. That worked out pretty good.

If this continues through the month you really have to recall him by early July at the latest. At that point we'll know theres nothing more for him to learn in AAA.

    Stay tuned.

His voice lacks the range of tonal color necessary to make it consistently interesting. Full time consideration of another endeavor might be in order."

PCL HR Park Factors from BA:

    Launching Pad: Albuquerque, 2.75 HR/G (No. 2)
    Graveyard: Oklahoma City, 1.52 HR/G (No. 56)
    Hit Parade: Albuquerque, 22.91 H/G (No. 2)
    Pitcher's Park: New Orleans, 8.35 R/G (No. 22)

So TdA's homers have been legit, at least in Oklahoma City.

TC said they planned to give d'Arnaud 40-50 ABs in AAA. Right now he's had 29 ABs. The earliest he'll be back is the Miami series possibly. The first game of the Athletics series is more likely though, and I can't see him being down any longer than that.

I figured, but people who don't follow the minors might have been inclined to believe that his homers were cheap based off your post.

The problem is not if his homers have been legit based on parks he has played, the question is who has he hit them off?

The most important question is can he do that off major league pitching?

He's hit 3 of the 5 in OKC too.

I remember when the Mets' AAA team was in New Orleans how many fans hated them playing there because our hitters couldn't hit the ball out. Then again, most of our AAA guys back then sucked.

@NYPost_Mets: Regarding d'Arnaud, if he remains in Vegas past June 28, he will be out of options beginning next season. Mets would prefer to keep option.
