Kershaw NO HITTER!! | Colorado Rockies (33-36) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (37-34)

    ................................

Colorado Rockies (33-35) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (37-34)

    Dodger Stadium

Game 1. Monday, 7:10PM. SportsNet LA.

    Hyun-Jin Ryu

    70.1 IP | 3.33 ERA | 2.90 FIP | .317 BABIP

Ryu suffered his first road loss of the season, giving up four runs on six hits in six innings against the Reds on Wednesday. The left-hander is 2-2 with a 4.71 ERA in four career starts against Colorado.
    vs.

    Tyler Matzek

    7.0 IP | 2.57 ERA | 1.09 FIP | .263 BABIP

In his Major League debut on Wednesday, Matzek held the Braves to two runs in seven-plus innings, mostly using a fastball and a slider. His next start is at Dodger Stadium, not far from his home in Mission Viejo, Calif.

Game 2. Tuesday, 7:10PM. SportsNet LA.

    Zack Greinke

    85.0 IP | 2.65 ERA | 3.16 FIP | .313 BABIP

Greinke had a solid outing against the Reds on Thursday, giving up two runs on four hits in six innings, but took the loss. In 11 appearances (10 starts) against Colorado in his career, he is 3-2 with a 4.20 ERA.
    vs.

    Jhoulys Chacin

    45.2 IP | 4.53 ERA | 4.33 FIP | .270 BABIP

After missing the first month with a shoulder injury, Chacin earned his first win of '14 Thursday, holding Atlanta to two hits in seven shutout frames. With his sinker and two-seam working, Chacin was efficient on the ground, needing just 85 pitches.

Game 3. Wednesday, 7:10PM. SportsNet LA.

    Clayton Kershaw

    55.1 IP | 2.93 ERA | 1.89 FIP | .338 BABIP

    vs.

    Jorge De La Rosa

    74.1 IP | 4.12 ERA | 4.70 FIP | .251 BABIP

De La Rosa left his last start, Friday against the Giants, after three innings with back tightness. However, he felt better the next day, and said neither that nor a bruised left middle finger would keep him from the mound.

Winning series' is a must, a sweep would be awesome, though.

VaGiants lost tonight. Dodgers need to get it together quick. They can still take the division IMO but gotta start winning NOW. I think they are a team that needs to deal before the trade deadline

Romak needs to go away forever... Perez and Maholm are on the borderline themselves...

Only reason I say Maholm is borderline is because he has a legit ability to start games/eat multiple innings out of the bullpen and that has it's value, however he hasn't been very effective in those roles. Their is guys in the minor leagues who could probably fill that role, like Matt Magill.

As soon as Uribe is back Romak is gone. I'd just as soon see Perez and Maholm gone, replaced by Paco and McGill or Patterson or Garcia. Ned has to do something about the bullpen, Jansen and Howell are the only ones to get outs on a consistent basis. Even they can be shaky at times.

Yeah, but the Giants are coming back to earth, and there's so many games to play yet. However, the clock has started for acquiring what we need for the final two months of the season.

We've got our two best bats doing absolutely nothing right now. And we'll look better with Uribe and Crawford back, and Kemp is getting going.

I don't think Maholm has any value has a inning eater or LOOGY. He has a near 5 ERA and a near 6 FIP.

I'd rather have Fife, Magill or Wright in that role.

Assuming you don't want any of the right-handers as LOOGYs
    Fife is injured
    Magill is struggling in AAA: 4.25 ERA, 19% K, 14% BB, 4.88 FIP (28%, 14%, 4.06 last year)
    Wright has been ok.

    Maholm as a releiver: 2.31 ERA, 16% K, 8% BB, 3.26 FIP

He's been ok, so far, as a reliever. Just 11 innings, though, of course.
It's hard to say whether Maholm was as bad as he looked as a starter, or as good as he's looked as a reliever, or somewhere in between. The somewhere in between is usually the safest bet.

The question is what's up with Paco?
He had good K and BB numbers in LA this year. But a terrible BABIP. But only 31 hitters faced
That same trend has continued in AAA.
