Giants showing strong interest in Samardzija

The Giants are showing strong interest in Cubs ace Jeff Samardzija, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today (on Twitter). Other clubs in the picture include the Yankees, Orioles, Angels, Red Sox, and Blue Jays.

Very smart move. Cain and Lincecum have been worrying me all season, an even Vogey

Lincecum is the only one who worries me, I'd love this move.

The majority of those teams don't have the prospects to get him.

I don't know if I'd rather have him or Utley. I think Utley. But this would still be legit.

He is going to be one expensive bullpen arm. But maybe he will pitch like he did in the 2012 playoff games. We can only hope.

Given how our offense has performed, I think Samardzija would be better option for us, especially if we have to go up against a team like the Nationals.

Shark, easily. Utley will come here and immediately break himself, then cost another $40 million+. Pitching is a much bigger need than 2b.

But usually right before our newly traded for 2B breaks we win a World Series...

Utley's contract protects team from catastrophic injuries.

Wrong, Giants won't move him to the bullpen. They don't want a 17M bullpen arm.

well he won't be replacing the other 4 who have been much better. Maybe they shouldn't pay scrub pitchers ace money and they wouldn't have this "dilemma"
