Post TMJ4: Aaron Rodgers wasnt on the list of minorty owner

Aaron Rodgers said months ago he would be interested in potentially being a part of an ownership group with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Apparently, he's putting his thoughts into action - at least to an extent.

According to the Racine Journal Times' Gery Woelfel:

Rodgers is one of many including former Milwaukee Bucks Junior Bridgeman and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, various business leaders and others who could be possible partners for Wesley Edens and Marc Lasry.

Their role could be in helping fund a new arena for the team.

The NBA Board of Governors has approved new minority investors to join Wes Edens and Marc Lasry as owners of the Milwaukee Bucks, and they do not include a famous Green Bay Packers quarterback.

Aaron Rodgers will not join Edens and Lasry in the ownership group that not only plans to make the Bucks a contender after decades of mostly futility, but help build a new arena to keep the franchise in Milwaukee for generations to come.

Lasry and Edens, two New York investment managers bought the Bucks from Herb Kohl back in April for $550 million, plus they pledged another $100 million toward the cost of a new arena in Milwaukee.

The deal is contingent upon an arena agreement by November of 2017, or the NBA will buy the team back for $575 million - now less than the overall invested value of the team and far less than what the team's value could be in a new arena.

Wes Edens and Marc Lasry today announced that the NBA Board of Governors has formally approved a group of individuals to join the ownership group of the Milwaukee Bucks. The new participants in the ownership group include familiar faces from the greater Milwaukee business community such as Ted Kellner of Fiduciary Management, Jim Kacmarcik of Kapco, Craig Karmazin of Good Karma Brands, Michael Kocourek of Mid Oaks Investments, Keith Mardak of Hal Leonard Corporation, Teddy Werner of the Milwaukee Brewers as well as several other prominent business leaders with close ties to the Milwaukee area.

"We are so excited about creating a new era of Milwaukee Bucks basketball," said Bucks owner Marc Lasry. "In just a matter of weeks, we have had an incredible draft, brought on a world-class coach, and have now assembled a visionary group of owners from the community."

Bucks owner Wes Edens said, "From day one, Marc and I felt a huge part of the rebuilding process would be dependent on having important leaders from Milwaukee join the ownership of the organization. We believe the future of the Milwaukee Bucks is not only about winning basketball, but also about contributing to Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin."
