Sox Sign OF Andres Torres to Minor League Deal

The Red Sox announced that they’ve signed 36-year-old outfielder Andres Torres to a minor league contract. Torres has spent parts of nine years in the big leagues, with 650 games on his resume with the Giants, Tigers, Rangers and Mets.

He last played in the big leagues in 2013, hitting .250 with a .302 OBP and .342 slugging mark in 103 games for the Giants in which he played all three outfield positions. In his career, the switch-hitter is a .242/.317/.382 hitter who has enjoyed greater success against lefties (.265/.340/.397) than righties (.230/.306/.374) — a trait that suggests he could represent a complement to the left-handed-hitting Jackie Bradley Jr.

Not sure why we do this. Would rather see some of our younger guys or see what JBJ will do with a full season if we're looking towards next year. If we were close this would make more sense

Sizemore is gonna get cut soon I think this offsets that

^^ Agreed. This move protects the OF depth if Sizemore is either claimed or declines an assignment to PAW when he's DFA to activate Victorino.

That's too bad. Really hoped he would revert back to the Sizemore of the past. He still may, just not here if thats the case. I see Mookie playing CF at Pawtucket. Hopefully we will see him soon. Other than that, theres not much outfield talent at Pawtucket. Can see a trade or 2 to add some power to this stagnant lineup. More than likely in the offseason though
