    Ryan Kesler still wants out

How does Jim Benning's selection as GM in Vancouver, and who he selects as head coach, affect the Ryan Kesler situation?

Darren Dreger: Ryan Kesler hasn't changed his mind. He wants a fresh start and to move on from Vancouver; he met with Benning earlier this week to talk about that. It's believed that Kesler still has six teams on his list that he's willing to be traded to. And we think that Philadelphia and Anaheim are among those.

Pierre LeBrun: The asking price remains high, as it should for a guy that only has a $5 million cap hit for two more years. The Canucks don't just want futures here, they want a player that can help them now, preferably a centre.

Probably will see a draft day trade.
So Anna, what do you think about the notion that Russell Wilson is better than Andrew Luck?

I've been pushing for this since the SCF. Then his trade value would have been high, and it made sense to do it at the time. It was clear the team needed to be reconfigured but instead we made the mistake most SC runner-ups make in thinking that we almost made it. Most of those runner up teams fade away.

The haul for him in return should be pretty solid. He's in a nice cap fit considering, and many teams would want to have him. We'll have to see who it is. Spezza is out there as well, but Kesler is the superior of the two players IMO.

The Canucks have suffered through a toxic atmosphere that still lingers heavily in the air, slowly dissipating. Too many weird, unfortunate things have happened to ignore...

    In no particular order

-the deaths of Luc Bourdon and Ric Rypien, Taylor Pyatt's fiance
-the Bertuzzi-Moore incident (the only reason I don't want Crow back)
    -the Luongo fiasco
-the ridiculous display by Tortorella, who embarrassed the city and himself, lost us a year
    -the pouting of Cody Hodgson
-the hounding of Alex Burrows by award-winning journalist Ron MacLean, overpaid buffoon
-more recently, among other things, the 'Kesler-gate' affair which lost him his "A" and took the shine off his star

This organization has an opportunity now to distance itself from the bad taste and unhappy memories associated with the above (and other things) and FINALLY move on. Now that Gillis the Arrogant and Tortorella the team destroyer are gone, we need to move some players out for their own good and for the team's, namely:

Ryan Kesler: the cracks he made about Luongo in 2010 and the fact that he was labled a whiner and a diver...he could bring us three-four pieces that would help immensely

Alex Burrows: no room for him now that we are trying so hard to get younger, and you have to figure that Horvat or whomever we get for Kes has to be an upgrade...buy Alex out, and let him move on with the memory of his buddy Luc, the Ron MacLean crap...we'd miss you, Alex, but you're not worth close to $5 mill per season. You need to be bought out because your days with the Twins are done. Everybody in the league knows what you're going to do, and you're slower at it. Sorry, man. You were awesome.

Jannik Hansen: true, Tortorella should not have made him a second liner, but Jannik doesn't have the grit at his price we need to win in LA's or Anaheim's barn. Gotta go.

Jason Garrison: can he play better under a different coach? I love his shot, but he looks lost in the Pacific division. Franky Corrado looks much better suited to play in this division. Trade Jason back to Flordia (if he'll go) and package him with the 6th overall (and ?) to get the first overall, where you take SAM REINHART.

David Booth: yeah, $4.7 mill cap hit and he's incapable of anything but the third line. Fortunately, he's only got one year left...with the compliance buyout used on Burrows, I'd waive Booth and see where we go from there.

Tom Sestito: love his try, has a little skill but what we really need is speed, which he ain't got. Bye bye Tom.

Hoping we get an upbeat hardass for a coach that enjoys injecting youth into the lineup as much as possible because, as a 44 year Canuck fan, I'm SICK of this team trying it's luck on unknowns and retreads.

Go with youth. Go hard. Crash the net. Hit the hell out of the other team's D. Score off the rush. Blast that puck on the PP, often and mercilessly. Let's get back to the land of the LIVING
