Forum Question Of The Day: 2000 or 2004

Ok, you can only choose one......curious to know your thoughts:

Win the Subway Series in 2000 and Lose in 2004 to the Sox (reality)

Or would you trade it for:

Lose the Subway Series to the Mets in 2000 and Beat the Sox in 04, and win the WS.

    Thoughts?

I'd say lose 2000 and not lose 4 fkn straight to Boston, then beat the rockies in the WS.

    04 sucked

To me the 2001 World Series was by far the worst of them all considering the the way they lost and 9-11. But for this poll id rather loose to the mets.

I'd rather beat the Dodgers in '55.

Part of me wants to say 04 just because I very was young in 2000 and was more of a casual baseball fan then. 04 is pretty much the worst loss I've had for any of my sports teams. Some of it would depend on how they lost. If they lost a ho-hum 6 game series instead of a heartbreaker it wouldn't be as bad. But 2000 was the only Subway series with the Mets and will remain the only one for some time. It would be annoying to be down 0-1 to them in the World Series. With the Red Sox, we'd dominated them for 80 years before that, and have had moments against them since, winning the 09 World Series and cutting their hearts out in the 2011 division race. That would also take away the 3-pete. I'd still probably choose to switch it just because I have more vivid memories of 04.

This would be a much closer choice for me. Them winning after 9/11 would've been great, and losing kind of spoils games 4/5 and the comeback against the A's.

I tend to agree that losing to the Mets would be something we may never be able to revenge, but we've beaten the Sox so bad for so many years, to me it wasn't that horrendous.

Also agree about 2001. That would have been epic.

To me the Mets are different rivals than the red Sox. The Mets are like the little brother that wants to be you and is always a little jealous because they don't have what you have. You don't really hate them, you just feel bad for them at times that they try so hard to be you.

There was a time in the late 90s and early 00s when the rivalry between the Yankees and Mets was creeping beyond the big brother/little brother scope but it has fallen since then.

The Red Sox on the other hand is the douchebag that you hate because ... well ... they're a douche.

I'd say the Red Sox rivalry is kind of the same way, only they're just a little closer to "being us" than the Mets are.

04 ALCS still gives me nightmares. Fkn bs. Yanks would have destroyed the Cards in the series. Much rather win in 04 than 00.

The jealousy is part of why they're douchebags. The Mets just don't carry the same douchiness as the Red Sox.

Seniors find Leo handsome so I guess that counts for something.
