Clips of Barry Beck. If Dylan could ever come close to Beck fans would love him

If you ever heard of Barry Beck and are curious watch some of these clips. Hopefully Dylan McIllrath can come close to the player Barry was some day.

He was the man. After he destroyed Holmgren most the leagues goons avoided him.

We can only wish Dylan becomes the force Beck was. That is exactly what this team needs. Will make players like Prust think twice about coming across the middle and delivering a cheapshot.

That clip brought back a lot of good memories. I forgot how fierce he could be at times. When I was a kid he was one foot inside center ice and took a slap shot before going for a change. The Buffalo goalie caught the shot and immediately threw off his glove and started shaking his hand like Barry broke it from center ice.

I forgot how intimidating it was for players to come down Barry's side of the ice. Half of Barry would be plenty for Dylan. I agree.

I'm just hoping he's ready to play next year. Stralman rejected a contract extension, AV doesn't seem to trust Diaz( smallish d-man, not physical at all---great shot tho' ) or Falk( physical but that's it---slow, no offense).

We have Girardi, Stral, and Klein on the right side. All are solid dmen. If we can resign Stral there may not be a spot open for Dylan but if we can not resign Stral than we need Dylan to step up. Diaz is more of a PP specialist in my eyes than a steady dman. It will be fun to watch Dylan pound some guys in front of the net and in the defensive zone.

Let's hope Dylan can learn to skate better than Eric Cairns.

Dylan actually has pretty good straight away speed but like many big guys it takes him a bit longer to get started. He also has to improve his edges so he can turn quicker and stay stronger on his skates.

It was fun watching the clip of Beck which motivated me to watch other videos of that Rangers era. It was a good time and likely will never lose the love for Jim Gordon's voice for both the Rangers and NY Giants. It was a good time with Beck, Nicky F, Johnstone, Gresh, Hospodar, etc. Fun to look back yet I still skip over the early 80's teams b/c it's still too painful they way those seasons ended.

Win or lose that was the greatest group of characters in my lifetime. They were really fun. What a combination of young and old. Not much was expected of them usually but come playoff time they often found a way to flip a switch. Their rivalry at that time vs the Islanders was also the greatest of my lifetime. Most more intense than the Yankees vs the Redsox.

RIP to Carol Vadnais. One of many unique characters on the 70's Rangers roster.
