    2014 Dodgers' Roster Thread

Seems like this is a thing that might be needed - since not every transaction needs its own thread, but still deserves mention

Jamie Romak was added to the 40-man roster and had his contract purchased by the Dodgers to fill in for Carl Crawford.

Romak will make his major league debut.

He was selected between Andre Ethier and Matt Kamp in the 2003 draft (4th round).

He's hitting .272/.354/.578 for the Isotopes so far this season.
And .249/.343/.450 in 12 minor league seasons including .250/.325/.463 in AAA.

Pre-season projections had him at a .278 wOBA.

He's played 1st, 3rd, LF and RF for Albuquerque this season.

The Dodgers also traded for Baltimore C Johnny Monell
Monell has 9 major league PAs with the Giants last year.

He's hit .265/.349/.449 in 8 minor league seasons and .261/.348/.455 in AAA.

He looks to be another Fed-X/Butera with the bat. Hopefully the Dodgers gave up talent accordingly.

Romak was such an out of the blue move, not even sure how he fits into the club as anything more than a pinch hitter. It seems he has some power, so that is ok, but still very random, he wasn't even on the 40 man roster.

Well he can play all 4 corner spots at least reasonably well, so there is that.

He can hit the ball out of the park
    He can play 3B

Dodgers can use both of those things

What's the timetable on him? I imagine he's going to start a rehab assignment soon?

Dodgers send Arruebarrena back to the minors and bring up Miguel Rojas to replace him.

One all-glove and no-bat SS for another.

Except Rojas probably has even worse bat and comparable glove, but maybe not Arruebarrena level.

But I understand the club wanting Arruebarrena to get more consistent at bat's.

I know this has more to do with future roster spots but that Boston trade has really hurt us.

Clogged our OF and added two more money sinks for age 30 and beyond players. Hated it then, hate it now.

    Carl Crawford's ankle isn't healing.

    Not imminent return for him.
