Of the Tigers that have made it onto the list, IMO, Cabrera, Kinsler, and Martinez are the only ones who deserve making the game. Now I know it's more of a popularity contest than production that this game is based on but seeing that Donaldson is getting love for 3B is pretty nice. Although I know it's Jeter's last year and all that hub bub, I think Alexei Ramirez deserves that spot much more than Jeter.

Castellanos really doesn't even deserve to sniff the allstar game right now. Yeah Miggy, Kinsler, and Martinez probably are the only Tigers that should make it. If Joba keeps doing what he's doing I could see him getting some consideration doubt he'd make it though. Verlander and Scherzer might make it on name and not performance.

Yea I could see Joba getting some consideration, but don't see it happening. Out of our starting rotation, I'd say it goes: Scherzer, Porcello, Verlander, Sanchez than Smyly in terms of who has performed the best.

JV made it last year when he really didn't deserve it. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened again. It's not like he's been terrible this year. 3 straight bad games, but before that he was fine. Not the best pitcher by any means...especially advanced stats. But he was getting the job done.

Also, Hunter should not even be in the top 10. He does NOT deserve All star consideration. Yes his bat has been good, but his defense is down right terrible this year. He can't make relatively simple plays anymore.

How the **** is Nick C in the top 5 in voting? wow

Surprised with Kinsler being over Cano & Pedroia too, although if the former was still in NY he'd be in 1st by a landslide

Cano may miss out simply because he no longer has the NY vote. Pedroia isn't having as good of a year as Kinsler. Kinsler has been stellar for us.

Right, I was thinking of name recognition for Pedroia, similar to Jeter being #1 despite being worth less than a gift basket

Yeah, he's almost doubled up Kins. I am really surprised Cruz is beating out Papi and Martinez by so much.

Yea as much as I would like Kinsler voted in, I think Cano still deserves it over him. Martinez deserves it over Ortiz but it's a toss up between Cruz and Martinez. Both have had great years and both deserve it imo. I'd say only Miggy and Martinez should make the team.

Probably not. Too many other pitchers are ahead of him. List off the top of my head: Felix, Darvish, Max, Sanchez, Tanaka, Kazmir, Gray, and Price)

There was an article just written about this on ESPN. The borderline guys are all really meh. I think Porcello has a shot if picked by a coach...

True, but teams like Astros will have a rep and Kuchkel will get the nod. And you still have to consider some RPs so the odd Porcello makes it is slim. I just don't see it.
