Syndergaard on way back to NYC to see doctor about a "mild flexor-pronator strain"

... As if things couldn't get worse for the Mets.

Thor to DL with Flexor Pronator Strain of Right Elbow

Michael Baron @michaelgbaron Noah to DL with flexor pronator strain. Coming to New York for tests #mets

Strasburg had the same injury in 2011, and he had TJ. See you in 2016, Syndergaard.

BTW this explains his velocity dip, and his mechanics looked poor a few starts ago. This means we're going to be seeing a ton of deGrom and Montero the rest of the season. This is why you accumulate depth in pitching. This is also why you want some young bats to build around because it's tough to rely on arms alone.

You can basically forget about trading for any big bats at this point. Without Harvey and Thor to count on, and with Wheeler still looking to get settled, none of these arms seem expendable now.

Which is why you sign a big bat from the FA when you get a chance.

    Agreed and agreed Sick.

But many of us knew that and have been saying so for a while. The TJ epidemic is ridiculous right now and you just can't bank on having "enough pitching" to overcome hitting deficiencies.

According to Will Carroll, Syndergaard’s injury is similar (Carroll said it’s a vague comparison and that any “strain” means damage) to the injuries that were recently sustained by both Chris Sale and Cliff Lee.

In Sale’s case, he was diagnosed April 24 and returned to big league action on May 22 – certainly an indication that Syndergaard’s injury – while scary as hell – may be relatively minor.

For the sake of Syndergaard, the Mets, and the fans, let’s hope Syndergaard’s MRI results are positive.
Could be similar to the injury Lee and Sale both had and they didn't need TJ surgery. Let's find out what the MRI says first.

Nah, let's just over react, freak out, and blame Sandy and the Wilpons for this.
