Packers have signed former Oregon TE Colt Lyerla

I think he deserves his own thread. If he has cleaned up his act, he will be a great player. If not, we will have also something to talk about.

Without his off the field issues, he is probably a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Should be really interesting what they do with him in TC and preseason

I would say a late first or early second round pick, but it's all speculation.
the packers have so much talent...

He was projected on NFL draft scout as the a top 3 TE before the season started IIRC.

All in all, if the Panthers are going to select a QB, Gabbert has to be the pick.
    People take this guy seriously?

I think this is a good signing it doesn't hurt anything. If he does great we have him under contract and got us a heck of a deal if he does something stupid or just ***** the bed and sucks it doesn't cost us anything

Until he is on the 53-man roster, it's a low risk-high reward signing.

Well the whole point of signing him now, is in hopes he can make the team.

There is risk down the road. That's hard to deny. It's on them to make sure nothing happens, him and the team, coaches, players. Yeah.

I'm absolutely thrilled but I'm not putting the cart before the horse. Dude hasn't played ball in a while and he obviously has issues. Everyone was staying away from easily the most talented UDFA. Why?

Ted Thompson's seat is as cool as he is. Ted haters are the worst type of people.

Really though it's like 'WE WANT A EVEN TOPPER GM THAN ONE OF THE TOP GMS!"

Where's Matt Millen in our FO, show these fools what's up.

I like the signing, he's very versatile. Packers usually keep 4 TEs so he should have a decent shot at making the squad. As for the talk about risks... there's really no risk at all. The Packers have a strong locker room, so its not like he would be a disruption in any way. If he F's up, then he gets cut... simple as that. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Yes he has a past, but there are individuals who are capable of turning it around. I'm pulling for the guy.

The Tight Ends competition will definitely be intriguing now.
Tag Team Champion for the moment.
