    Injury Bug Strikes Beltran

Well, now it appears Beltran's caught the bug. Apparently, he hyperextended his elbow and is going in for an MRI tomorrow.

Girardi was quoted as saying, “Yeah, there’s concern."

Not good news. It just gets worse and worse with these injuries. Ichiro's on the shelf with a sore knee, too, and Tex didn't look great running out that 9th inning single. Seemed to be wincing and running pretty gingerly.

We already knew Tex was hurt with a pulled vagina. I mean, groin.

They just thought a HR would be possible. I was happy with that single.

If he goes on the DL, Almonte probably gets the callup.

What do you expect with a team full of geriatrics? The lack of minor league depth is astonishing. I guess that's what happens when you only draft 1 offense position for 4 years In a row
    THE GOAT

Until a player reaches these PA numbers, lets not talk about how good they are.

The Following PA's are when sample size stabilizes

    50 PA: Swing %
    100 PA: Contact Rate
150 PA: Strikeout Rate, Line Drive Rate, Pitches/PA
200 PA: Walk Rate, Groundball Rate, GB/FB
    250 PA: Flyball Rate
300 PA: Home Run Rate, HR/FB
500 PA: OBP, SLG, OPS, 1B Rate, Popup Rate
    550 PA: ISO

Maybe Cashman can set off on an expedition to find the Fountain of Youth for our aging vets.

    Vis ESPN:

Beltran went for an MRI on Monday night. The Yankees said the results were not immediately available.

"I'm concerned because it was enough for him to take himself out of the game," Girardi said after the Yankees' 9-7 loss to the Mets.

Girardi described Beltran as "upset," when he told his manager that he needed to be removed from the game. In the seventh, backup catcher John Ryan Murphy pinch hit for Beltran. Beltran had been the DH so it is not unusual to take swings between at-bats.

Beltran was unavailable for comment. He went 0-for-3 Monday and is hitting .234 on the season.

Ichiro has a sore back, not knee.

old players = old body parts.. old body parts=injuries. I was very skeptical of the Beltran signing. He's old and getting older.. The Yankees have to stop this nonsense. We need young players.

    Apparently, Beltran's MRI was negative.

ST. PETERSBURG -- Carlos Beltran had an MRI exam on his left shoulder and his right wrist after tumbling over a short wall in right field during Thursday's 10-2 Yankees victory over the Rays. The tests were negative, but the outfielder said that he is feeling sore.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that Beltran was not available to play on Friday, but the team is hopeful that Beltran will be ready to play on Saturday.

"It's really encouraging," Girardi said. "We don't want him to be out for a long period of time. We've just got to get him to where he's feeling a little bit better."

Um. This is from a month ago, when he flipped over the wall in Tampa.

I love how injuries are 'because we are too old'.

No, it's because guys get hurt.

Is Nova old? Piñata? Ryan? Fatty? Tex? Cervelli? Drob?

The 'old' thing is ridiculous. Girardi is a master at resting the older guys, actually.
