the projections on this guy are pretty unspectacular. Sounds like too much of a project for my tastes. Way early but not a big fan of this pick.

#Packers pick Thornton called "most underrated" prospect at position by NFL scout Dave-Te' Thomas. Part of this: http://gnb.scout.com/2/1399902.html#...sG_bwI.twitter

Kiper said he has massive potential, but there were off the field issues for him. I don't know what they were, but when you play for the worst team in America.....lol

Khyri Thornton may only weigh 304, but he can be a two-gapping NT in the Packers’ defense. He can also kick out to 3-tech. Versatile player.

Southern Miss DT Khyri Thornton "is light on his feet and has TONS of raw power," writes Scout Inc.'s Kevin Weidl.
"Explosive initial punch and constantly jarring blockers on tape," Weidl tweeted. "Thornton has the physical tools to develop into a steady contributor or potential starter. However must become more consistent with effort and finish." The interior defensive lineman weighed in at 6-foot-2 5/8 and 316 pounds at the school's pro day, running forties of 5.04 and 5.09 seconds. NFL.com's Gil Brandt believes Thornton could be a possible late-second (Rds. 2-3) to early-third day (4-7) selection. We think the middle of the third day is probably more realistic.
Six players from Southern Miss worked out, plus another four former Golden Eagles players from the previous year. The most noteworthy of which was Khyri Thornton, who was the only Southern Miss player present at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Thornton, a 6-foot-2 5/8, 316-pound defensive tackle, ran the 40-yard dash in 5.09 and 5.04 seconds and then kept the rest of his numbers registered at the combine. Thornton had a very good workout, which was led by a Philadelphia Eagles coach. Thornton appeared to be in great shape; he did not lose his breath during the workout. Thornton could be selected at the bottom of the second day or at the top of the third day of the 2014 NFL Draft.
