Rivera says he prefers the passion Pedroia plays with over Cano's

    http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2014/05/...daisical-cano/

    According to Rivera:

"This guy has so much talent I don't know where to start. ... There is no doubt that he is a Hall of Fame caliber (player). It's just a question of whether he finds the drive you need to get there. I don't think Robby burns to be the best ... You don't see that red-hot passion in him that you see in most elite players."

Rivera is right. Cano has always been bashed about how lazy he is and how he doesn't hustle.

not having the same drive as Pedroia does not make Cano a worse player

Misleading headline since Rivera doesn't say anything like that.

But why let the truth get in the way of a potential cat fight.

Oh wait, another person essentially calling Cano lazy? Thought it was just Yankee fans being bitter.

His points are valid and I agree with him. There's not one second baseman as talented as Cano, but Pedroia has all the intangibles you want in a team leader. He plays every game, every play like it could be his last and you have to respect that.

A couple of seasons ago, I would have taken Pedroia over Cano performance wise

But I would rather have Pedroia on my team playing second considering he does seem more passionate. I like effort in the middle infielders.

But Cano has been the better player the last few years.

Pedroia is better defensively, Cano is the better hitter.

I always wondered how Cano would be as a third basemen....where he could limit the need for range as much, and he could show off his powerful arm.

And I edited the title, because Rivera doesn't say he would rather have Pedroia than Cano.
