    Scouting Report:
Giants: With Matt Cain on the disabled list, Giants reliever Yusmeiro Petit will likely make the spot-start Monday night in Pittsburgh, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area reports. Petit made a spot-start for Cain on Tuesday, allowing just three hits over six scoreless innings while striking out four against the Padres. He owns a 2.61 ERA and 20:4 K:BB ratio in 20 2/3 innings.

Pirates: Left-hander Jeff Locke is expected to start for the Pirates in place of injured lefty Wandy Rodriguez (right knee inflammation). Locke's return to the rotation allows him the chance to regain the All-Star form he achieved early last season.

    Game 2: Tuesday, May 6th @ 4:05 PM

    VS.
    Tim Hudson......Charlie Morton

                                2 BB's 14

    Scouting Report:
Giants: In a masterly performance, Hudson was one out away from a complete game Wednesday when San Diego's Yasmani Grandal chased him with a solo homer. Hudson is 1-1 with a 1.23 ERA in two road starts this year.

Pirates: Morton makes 12th start since his most recent victory, on Sept. 2 in Milwaukee, and he has lost four consecutive decisions for the first time since early 2012. He went at least six innings in each of his first five starts, then 5 1/3 in his latest.

    Game 3: Wednesday, May 7th @ 9:35 AM

    VS.
    Tim Lincecum..........Gerrit Cole
    Code:
                                Lincecum Cole
                                6 Starts 6
                                2 Wins 2

                                1.61 WHIP 1.31

                                9 BB's 12

    Scouting Report:
Giants: Lincecum actually has performed better on the road (2-0, 4.00 ERA) than at home (0-1, 6.59 ERA). He's 13-11 with a 3.91 career ERA in May.

Pirates: The young righty tries to pitch his way out of the first four-start winless slide of his career -- but those include two games in which he allowed only one run. He has given up a home run in each of his three starts at PNC Park.

Not feeling great about the pitching match ups for this series and it always seems like we get absolutely shut down in Pittsburgh no matter how good the Pirates are. Right now though I have a ton of faith in this lineup and I think we can outhit the Pirates so I'll say we get 2/3

I think we'll win the first two. I'm starting to gain some confidence in Petit. Hopefully that doesn't blow up in my face.

If anyone deserves to be benched, it's Pablo. While Belt is in a funk, he's been infinitely better than Sandoval. Too bad the situation of Posey needing a day off results in Belt being benched.

And there's no way he's playing LF this year.

Nope, it is what it is. When Bochy wants to give Buster a pseudo day off or wants Hector's bat in the lineup, Belt is going to sit. I guess we should all be used to it by now.

Posey just had two days off from catching after Friday's game. This is all about getting Hector's bat in the lineup. smh

I wonder if any other teams frequently bench their HR (co-)leader to get their backup catcher some ABs.

    EDIT:
