    Theres precedence here.

In 1977 we picked up Leo Foster, not George.

In the mid 90s we had Mike Maddux, not Greg.

And of course in 2004 we signed that Japanese sensation Kaz Matsui, not Hideki.
"Mr. Martin Tanner, Baritone, of Dayton, Ohio made his Town Hall debut last night. He came well prepared, but unfortunately his presentation was not up to contemporary professional standards. His voice lacks the range of tonal color necessary to make it consistently interesting. Full time consideration of another endeavor might be in order."

Best definition yet of the GSP.

Clearly he was an investment the Mets could not make, better off giving that money to Granderson.

Mets aren't in a position to put significant monies at significant risk. A player without professional XP in pro ball carries high risk.
"The 90 wins is about challenge. It's about changing the conversation. It's about framing questions for ourselves as to how we get there. So I stand by the notion that we need to get better, and in doing so we need to set concrete goals for ourselves so that we have sort of specific conversations among ourselves about how we're going to get there." -- Mr. Alderson

Why, because they are too weighed down by their enormous $80M payroll?

It was the log jam at 1st base which was a dumb quote by Jeff. That said, Dug's right about them being cash strapped to the point that the Mets cant' take that type of risk on a guy with no major league experience.

The Mets aren't going to be in the business of picking up expensive IFAs.

The cash strapped point is something you continually overlook. You can do with what you don't have. Does it suck? Yes but it is what it is.

Mets are a joke. If we had gotten Abreu or Tanaka, we'd be much better. Even if we got Choo or Ellsbury...

    .271/.351/.492
    .259/.340/.600

I think Duda compares favorably so far.

    .227/.346/.409

Now Ike is a different story.
