    The Shadow of Phil Jackson

If you think the shadow of Phil Jackson has left the Lakers, the last laugh may be with Phil himself. The media has it all wrong... intentionally so??? The "rebuild" scenario he enters in New York is extremely similar to the one facing the Lakers. And with no early draft picks to speak of, Carmelo likely to leave {maybe a good thing}, one could even say the job for Phil and the Knicks is significantly tougher than for Jim Buss and Mitch K.

    Who wins the race???

I have to believe all of the above named that park ego's at the work door know the same facts. So when Jim Buss recently said 3-4 years to build a contender or he'd fire himself; he may have been brighter than we gave him credit for. That's, coincidently, what the talking heads suggest is the time frame for the Knicks.

I can't believe either Kobe or Carmelo were happy with the respective news. And I wonder if Kobe wants to win more than retiring a Laker; or even, is 2 years really all the longer he pays {assuming he can} last big payday for sure, but maybe not play time. Jordan was pumping in 25 pts per game at 40.

You know if Phil wins the race, the **** hits the fan in Los Angeles.

Oh the Fun Phil is already having! Check out his comments on Coaching and Jeannie Buss! Is this now, "long distance" relationship just what the NBA ordered for PRESS -- or What! LOL!!! Phil is the BEST at interviews!

Word has it he is already clashing with Jim Dolan who is upset at the firing of some of his internal organization spies. Dolan is a equally as big of a fool as Jim Buss, The race to the bottom is on and New York and Los Angeles are leading by leaps and bounds.

Damn - the dude goes to the Knicks and you guys still have to talk about him. I couldn't care less what the Knicks do and how they rebuild. It's not a race between the Lakers and Knicks that's ridiculous. We just want to get back on top the fastest possible, why would I care how fast or slow the Knicks take to get into contention? Why do I care what kind of relationship Phil and Dolan have? This is all irrelevant to Lakers fans and our rebuild process.

Oh and Carmelo ain't leavin the Knicks. You can quote me on that, and repost my quote on July 4th.

This is who I would send to the NBA Lottery.

I respect what Coach Jackson did for the Lakers, but this is more of a Knick story.

Ok, why argue, but before close consider:

Phil Jackson is the President of a competing basketball franchise; who happens to be engaged to the Owner of the Lakers -- who, without exception, wanted him as the next Coach of the Lakers after Brown. Her co-owner brother said no.

A year from now it may not be a "Lakers" story, but right now, everything that happens off season will be measured, re-measured, and evaluated by the fans -- who outright HATE D'Antoni -- in this context.

Jimmy Buss' poker raise just got called!

Whether some Laker fans like it or not I think the "Phil vs Jimbo" will be talked about a lot and probably beat into the ground from the over dramatized media.

The comparison will be there by default.
