Richard sherman about to become the no.1 paid cb in the league

Several league sources anticipate the contract will be worth more than $13M a season when finalized, with the Seahawks reluctant to go to $14M thus far. The corner market has undergone a reset in recent years, with Revis' $16 million-a-year deal with Tampa seen as an outlier. Unable to trade that contract, Revis was released and signed with the Patriots for what amounts to a one-year, $12M deal.

Well deserved IMO, but what happens to those safeties and their contracts?

Also I assume Revis will want a raise next year if he does well/

Like Revis, that's a lot of cash for a corner.

He definitely deserves it. The only thing is if I'm the Seahawks and I'm paying that much for a cornerback, you best believe that I expect him to cover the other teams number 1 wideout every play without help.

I look forward to knowing what the actual terms of the deal are. How much is guaranteed as salary or bonus? How many years? How many of and are the final couple years of the contract real or inflated?

I will have to wait until the details come out but its pretty strange that he was a priority over Thomas.

This. I want Sherman long term, but Thomas is a higher priority.

On one hand it's deserved. On the other....this is how good teams start to cripple themselves.

Seahawks should try to make ESPN cover a few million since he is basically on their staff as a Racial Relations and Football Consultant.

yup. I'd rather have that secondary without sherman than sherman without that secondary.

Deserved contract, still a hell a lot of money for a CB.

Now let's see how Seattle deals with all the big $$ their stars want. It's going to be hard to keep a top notch team when Wilson gets paid as well. Earl Thomas is going to want his too.
