IGT: Carolina Hurricanes at Philadelphia Flyers

    Time: 3:00pm
    Place: Wells Fargo Center

    Game Notes:

    - Carolina has played the role of spoiler well this season; they're coming off a 2-1 win over Detroit.
    - Eric Staal needs a goal tonight to reach the 20 goal mark for his 8th straight season.
    - Jeff Skinner has just 1 point in his last 5 games.
    - Flyers are coming off of a 4-3 OT win over the Pens yesterday afternoon.
    - Cal Heeter will make his first NHL start today.
    - Jason Akeson was also recalled last night and will likely be in the lineup.
    - This is the 4th and final meeting; the Hurricanes won the previous 3 meetings.

Downie, Raffl, MacDonald, and Grossmann are all scratches today.

Lines haven't been formally announced as of yet, but Akeson is expected to play the right side with Couts and Read.

EDIT: Here are the line combos:

    Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek

    McGinn - Schenn - Simmonds

    Read - Couturier - Akeson

    Rosehill - Lecavalier - Hall

    Timonen - Coburn

    Gill - Streit

    Gustafsson - Schenn

Shame Akeson doesnt play a lick of defense or have any real quickness, because hes got great vision and passing ability.

I'd rather see Akeson in the lineup over Downie or McGinn. At least he provides some offense.

Maybe you could hide him on the line with Read and Coots since they are both so responsible defensively. Feel bad for Heeter, he looks completely lost.

For a game you can, sure. But not for 82 games and playoffs. Hes small, not very fast, no defensive IQ or ethic. Hes a purely offensive player, and when youre that small, you cant get away with it.

Dirty move by Coots...anyone who says they dont see the offensive upside just need to see that breakaway.

    +1.

    Straight up filthy.

Appreciate the effort today. Flyers could have easily thrown in the towel after getting down 4-1, but they fought their way back and now its a whole new game.

    ****in shootouts.

So question for the forum. Playoff threads. Should it be one thread for the series or one for each game? And should I make it all pretty and stuff or just go with what got us here with the regular bland stuff Ive been doing?

Anyone have any input on that?

Thread it for the series. It'll save you time, and Im sure the discussions will roll from game to game.
    #WhyNot?

People ask me, "Why here? Why Kentucky?", I said "Why not"? It can be done here. It will be done here. Lay the foundation. Recruit and develop. Prepare to win. Day by day. Play by play. A new era of high performance. Why Kentucky? Why not? -Mark Stoops
