Athletics shortstop prospect Addison Russell will miss at least a month with a Grade 3 strain of his right hamstring, Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan reports.
Russell was placed on the seven-day disabled list Sunday with a strained hamstring, but Passan hears it's a more serious tear than initially indicated. Before the injury, it was believed the former first-round pick could be in Oakland before the end of the season. With the setback, it may be 2015 before he makes his major league debut.

That blows about Russell. A's actually look like they have a pretty good offense this year. To bad their closer is an incompetent tool.

A's had a good offense last year too, 4th most runs scored in baseball while playing in an extreme pitchers park.
As for Johnson...everyone slumps. Balfour was having issues at the beginning of 2012 as well, not really worried.

Pinder 4 for 4 yesterday with 2 homeruns. He and the A's first round draft pick last year, Billy McKinney are ranked number 1 and 2 in the cal league with Pinder having 5 homeruns and McKinney with 4. Surprising since they were thought of to have little power coming out of the draft.

The cal league is very friendly to hitters, but that's still great to hear.

Maxwell and Robertson are off to good starts as well. Seems like the A's if Pinder continues are really loaded at SS and 3B for the future. Starting pitching looks very, very, thin in the minors. Sure they will be scouting hard to replenish it.

I'm still unsure on Pinder, he didnt have a good debut last year
hopefully he keeps it up, and we might have a good trade piece if we need something down the stretch.

As for starting pitching, we have some guys with potential in the low minors but no one legit closer than AA. Hopefully the A's pick up more high ceiling hs guys in this years draft.

The Stockton middle infield is going to be really exciting to watch this year.

Billy can always do the same old same old, trade someone on the roster away who is about to make more money for prospects.
And while Oakland only gets the one pick this year, they will probably have two next year, because with all the SS they have, they likely won't bring back Lowrie.

Is f'n Russell going to come back or what? He didn't get bit by a shark. How freakin long is it taking a young kid to heal from a hammy?

As usual, Mr. Beane is dragging his feet with developing his hitting prospects. Muncy and Whitaker have both had an easy time with AA. They should be moved up to AAA immediately. Burns is hitting .250 but he seems like the guy who will hit .250 to .270 at every level. Why he is playing at AA I have no idea. Our current AAA team is made up of a bunch of rejects who will never become major league players. I would like to see D. Robinson moved to AA as well as Maxwell and Nunez.

While I think Beane would be a complete imbecile for not locking up Donaldson and Moss now. I realize that this is why he always does. Never keeps good hitters. So, if that is his plan which is his pattern, he better get some of our best prospects up to AA and AAA now.

He's got Donaldson locked up basically till he's 31, it's very likely that he's wanting to much for 1.5 years. How much you going to lock him up for? He's great top 5 hitter in the game, but locking him up past 31, is a bad idea for the A's and Donaldson. Donaldson needs to keep it up and then get super paid. He's not your typical 25 with 2 years experience player that you can lock up for 2-3 extra years and he leaves and gets paid. He doesn't have those 2-3 year's to give a hometown discount.

Come to psd where admitted dupes who do nothing but troll the gd and fs forum are free. But man don't you dare mention trolling on someone's wall.
