    BREAKING NEWS -- Gillis fired

    Updates coming

"When you have limitations and you understand your limitations and you stay within yourself, you can be great," Kobe Bryant said. "You know what you can do and what you can't do. In America, it's a big problem for us because we're not teaching players how to play all-around basketball. That's why you have Pau and Marc [Gasol], and that's the reason why 90 percent of the Spurs' roster is European players, because they have more skill."

    BREAKING NEWS -- Gillis fired

I have huge respect for Linden but I hope those rumours are not true. We need a veteran Pres and a veteran GM.

Gillman has been retained. Maybe he is the replacement with Linden as president.

Don't know much about Gilman but he better not be the mastermind behind all the brutal moves and trades. I'd wipe the place down with bleach to change management totally.

Gillman was on 1040 recently agreeing with Gillis that the core 'was good enough'. don't trust him.

    I agree.

Gillis' downfall was because he incorrectly deduced that the core was good enough.

    We need a house cleaning.

Of course he can say it now but you know what I mean. I'd be fine with Linden and Gillman.

Gilman is the cap expert, while Gillis is the transactions guy.. as far as i know.

Anyway, interesting to see who Aquilini brings in to replace Gillis. Anyone but (the rumored) Feaster.

Here's a good recap brought to you by Jeff Paterson:

Gillis 'good': Ehrhoff, Hamhuis, Tanev, (healthy) Malhotra, 2011 Higgins, Stanton, recent Kassian, (possibly) recent drafts #Canucks

Gillis 'bad': goaltending, loyalty to aging/fading core, NTC, Sturm, Roy, Pahlsson, Booth, Ballard, public persona

I'd add to Paterson's list the holes he failed to identify which completely ****ed this team through neglect:

    - not developing an adequate second line
    - not getting an impact winger to play with Kesler
    - by not developing the second line he neutralized the Sedins' first line

    - also, believing his core was adequate
    - also, calling Nonis' roster a mess and then basically riding it with little impact improvement other than Ehrhoff for his entire 7 years

It's what Gillis DIDN'T do to improve this club that was worse than the brutal trades.

And Paterson failed to mention the strategic stupidity of trading an offensive C in Hodgson when that has proven to be the club's biggest need since that trade
