Update: Mark Teixeira Placed on 15-Day DL with Strained Hamstring

Mark Teixeira said Friday that he'll see how he feels on Saturday, but that he's "not super optimistic" about his hamstring injury sustained in Friday's win over the Blue Jays.
Teixeira will go for an MRI in New York on Monday, but a trip to the disabled list seems like the most likely course of action at this point. The Yankees could utilize Kelly Johnson at first base while Teixeira is out, or could opt to recall Russ Canzler from Triple-A to fill the void. Apr 4 - 11:36 PM

Would the Yankees go after Kendrys Morales if Tex is out long term?

The right hamstring is the same one Teixeira strained in the 2010 ALCS. Then, NYY said it would take 6-8 weeks, but that was a Grade 2.

A better contingency plan at 1B may have been a good idea.

I don't love Tex but I love the other options less. Our 1B options in the farm are, uninspiring.

I know they were working out Soriano at first in the spring. Or Kelly Johnson it is
The bright side is that Solarte will really get a shot to play daily. Plug him in at 3rd and let Anna fill in for Jeter and Roberts

I wonder if the Yankees could go after Ike Davis who is on the trade block. LH pop(30+ HRs playing in Citi Field 2 years ago, that ain't easy), ok glove and right now his value is pretty low.

I'm not an Ike Davis Fan but I know the met's were interested in Nunez. Nunez for Davis? lol

I would do it tbh, Davis did show improvement this season. Doubt he hits 30 HRs again but 20-25 HRs with a 110 OPS+ is not out of question especially in Yankee Stadium, worst case scenario is a backup like Nuņez.

Bc McCann isn't playing 1b. So when he DH and cervelli catches they don't lost the dh of cervelli gets hurt
And cervelli will back up Kelly Johnson so romine will back up McCann those days

Ike Davis may not be the worst idea. The Mets are probably intent on dealing him for whatever they can get.

It comes down to the fact that they have no good options at all. And they don't think anyone they have in the majors could outhit Cervelli who apparently might get a little time at 1B.

Lot of hate for Tex. I don't get it.

He's suffered through injuries, and I won't blame him for that. Seems like he is totally against going the other way and I do blame him for that. But you could still pencil in the guy for world class defense and 25-30 hr's. Something we could sure as **** use.

Not happy about him going down at all. Oh well. Wtf else is new?

Speaking of the devil, Ike Davis just won the game for the Mets with a GW grand-slam with 2 outs and being down 3-2.
