Padres nearing deal with Odrisamer Depaigne

Sounds like just a minor league deal though

Diaz and Despaigne seemed to sign for a lot less than expected

    Minor league deal?

Why wasn't everybody in on him? Maybe they were. Maybe he really likes San Diego. It's a beautiful city.

My understanding is that he was really unimpressive.

He has an arsenal of pitches....but none of them look to be average or better than average.

    Maybe I'm wrong though.

What's up with the names lately? One of these days a team will sign Rgdfnhgiuod Geriodiesopilopis, the greatest left handed, submarine style, mohawk short reliever in the National League Central on a non-contender.

Baseball is a global sport played in numerous countries. When Chad Allen played in Japan, Japanese PSD asked what was up w the names and suggested a player named Ed Ott would be signed some day in Japan .
"The 90 wins is about challenge. It's about changing the conversation. It's about framing questions for ourselves as to how we get there. So I stand by the notion that we need to get better, and in doing so we need to set concrete goals for ourselves so that we have sort of specific conversations among ourselves about how we're going to get there." -- Mr. Alderson

Sad that some people are so unaware of the world around them.
