"Complete rest" for Parnell for two weeks. That means absence is going to be very long. So Jose Valverde is the closer?

Obviously something was not right. He's probably done for the year now.

Valverde to closer, and Black to the pen.

    Don't kill me, but...

Would anyone be willing to consider putting Montero in to close?

What a way to start a 162 game season (6 months)...luckily we don't have Reyes anymore...feel bad for him but the guy just can't stay healthy

I'm down! Especially with our surplus of SP (when Harvey is back next year). I'd def try Montero, at least I think is a move the Cardinals would do.

As I said in Spring Training, Mejia will eventually be the closer for this team.

This is obviously bad news, but if there's any kind of positive spin to be spun, it's that Parnell is out for a most-likely lost season anyway. It would have hurt much more if this had happened in 2015.

Mejia has made it clear that he prefers to be a starter. I heard that Mejia would rather start in Vegas than relieve in the majors. He might move to the pen if they decide to limit his innings later in the year, but that's not going to be his role. If the Mets don't want him as a starter, I'm sure someone else will.
