Could be a tough road game. Van is in a basically win every game or miss the playoffs position now.

St.Louis has to finally score....the TSN broadcast made a good point the other night that there were too many left hand players on the pp line with St.Louis and nobody who was able to take a one timer from the left side making it too predictable where the puck was going.

Call me crazy, but I would start Talbot again tonight, and then once more on April 10th against Buffalo. Give Henrik as much rest as possible before heading into the post season.

It's such a luxury having a backup as good as Talbot has been this season. Being able to spell Hank late in the season while not missing a beat is a HUGE advantage this time of year. What do you guys think will happen to Talbot next year? I can see many teams lining up for him considering his numbers this year.

Cam has been wonderful. His contract at $563k per season is also a gift for the Rangers. However, that contract expires at the end of next season when Talbot will become a UFA. I would anticipate the Rangers addressing Talbot's contract extension sooner, rather than later, with Talbot getting a reasonable raise and maybe a 2-3 year term.

I don't think Talbot is perceived yet as being ready to be a full-time NHL goalie and, from a career standpoint, being the backup to Hank the next few years is a great way to advance your development. So I am hopeful Talbot will be resigned and be our backup for a few years still. I guess it is possible the kid has such high confidence in himself that he decides to play out his contract and try to become a full-time goalie after next season, but that's not my impression of how things will transpire.

Cam has played great. Way better than I ever thought he could. Still we have had backups play great in the past as well so I would probably prefer to 1 year deals.

AV is not a perfect coach. There are no perfect coaches but I think he keeps this team light. He said he has a hard working team. I bet the guys appreciate hearing that. I liked this exchange below:
Vigneault had a hilarious answer to a question about how such a talented offensive player as Canucks forward Alex Burrows could go 35 games without a goal, as he did this season: ďIím fortunate right now to have the top scorer in the NHL for the past four years playing for my team (in Martin St. Louis), and weíre 9-4-1 since heís been here, but he doesnít have a goal and has three assists. Iíve turned him into a defensive specialist (laughs). Ya know, thatís part of my genius plan.Ē

By the way for those of us that are fuzzy on how the playoff picture works:

Playoffs now consist of four brackets. Two from each conference, one for each division. Each bracket gets determined initially by the 1-3 seeds being awarded to the top point getters from each bracket. The two wildcards then fill in based on the lower wild card facing off against the higher one seed. So if it were today, based on these standings:

    http://espn.go.com/nhl/standings

    The Atlantic bracket would be:

    1 Boston Bruins
    vs
WC 2 (Bruins have the best record in the east, hence playing the lower wildcard

    2 Montreal Canadiens
    vs
    3 Tampa Bay Lightning

    The Metro bracket would be:

    1 Pittsburgh Penguins
    vs
    WC 1

    2 New York Rangers
    vs
    3 Philadelphia Flyers

Then, considering in the Wild Card standings, they fit as listed above. The wacky part here is that Detroit would shift over to our bracket from the Atlantic and Columbus would shift over to the Atlantic bracket from the Metro.

The conference finals are represented by the teams that win each of the bracket.

I like the new system, it gives a chance to breed a lot of contempt and solid rivalries. The NYR/Flyers rivalry will be even richer if we get to face eachother in round 1 this year.
New York Rangers - Atlanta Braves - New York Giants - Kobe Bryant

    Hmmm Good Question ...

Some backup goalies go on to become all-star caliber starters, while some never reach their full potential and end up playing overseas. I'm sure teams would be hesitant to give Talbot a multi year big dollar contract seeing as he only has 20 or so NHL starts under his belt. My guess is he takes a one or two year deal and shores up his game behind one of the leagues best and then looks to cash in when he is 27-28 years old ...

The rumoured lines have us finally moving Richards back to wing tonight, Moore to center his line with St.Louis. Been hoping to see Moore move up the depth chart since a while, when he was in Toronto he was used in more offensive spots at times and it paid off. The 4th line could be nasty to play against.

    Hagelin Stepan Nash
    Richards Moore St.Louis
    Pouliot Brassard Zuccarello
    Dorset Boyle Carcillo

That 4th line is something we havent had in a long time. If we could only get St.Louis going we could do some damage in playoffs.

this. And also, what an addition Carcillo has been. Really like his game. Even so far as to hope he re-signs...

He has really impressed me with his composure, he used to be such an unpredictable guy you couldn't play him, guess when you start running out of options you have to change your game..good on him.
