    Pitching Matchups

STRASBURG: This will be his third consecutive Opening Day start. In 2012, against the Cubs, Strasburg pitched seven innings, allowed one run and struck out five in a 2-1 victory. The following season, Strasburg pitched seven shutout innings vs. the Marlins.
GEE: With left elbow soreness forcing Jon Niese to the disabled list, Gee will make his first career Opening Day start in Niese's place. No Mets pitcher was better late last year than Gee, who went 10-5 with a 2.71 ERA from May 30 through season's end.

GONZALEZ: In 2013, Gonzalez didn't have the season that he had the previous year, but Gonzalez still won 11 games, had a respectable 3.36 ERA and struck out 192 batters. He would like to reach 200 innings for the first time as a member of the Nationals.
COLON: Looking to replace injured starter Matt Harvey in their rotation, the Mets gave Colon a two-year, $20 million contract to come to Flushing. Colon may be 40 years old but is coming off one of his best seasons (18-6, 2.65 ERA with the A's).

ZIMMERMANN: Zimmermann was the best pitcher in Washington's rotation last year. Zimmermann was able to win a team-leading 19 games, reach 200 innings and was invited to his first All-Star Game in 2013.
WHEELER: Just as Matt Harvey did a year ago, Wheeler is looking to break out in his first full big league season. The 23-year-old has done nothing but improve since making his debut last June, and is coming off a strong Grapefruit League campaign.

    Lets go Mets!!!

"Mr. Martin Tanner, Baritone, of Dayton, Ohio made his Town Hall debut last night. He came well prepared, but unfortunately his presentation was not up to contemporary professional standards. His voice lacks the range of tonal color necessary to make it consistently interesting. Full time consideration of another endeavor might be in order."

I went with 1/3 and 78-81, I feel we are a better team then last year but to many what if's. I hope I am wrong and we win 85-90 and I would gladly eat crow on that. I am pretty pumped for opening day, I am trying to put into place my work schedule so I can skip out early and watch some ball. LET'S GO METS!!!!!!

The winter was so ****** long. Thank geebus it is over.
"The 90 wins is about challenge. It's about changing the conversation. It's about framing questions for ourselves as to how we get there. So I stand by the notion that we need to get better, and in doing so we need to set concrete goals for ourselves so that we have sort of specific conversations among ourselves about how we're going to get there." -- Mr. Alderson

OPENING SERIES 2014 - Washington Nationals @ New York Mets

This year I will be posting my realistic predictions, rather than my optimistic side.

    Opening Day: 1-7 L
    April 2nd: 3-2 W
    April 3rd: 0-4 L

    Record: 1-2.
I do think the Mets can win 2 out of 3, and want the Mets to win all 3, but this is just how I see the series playing out. Outscored 13-4 in the series because Gee gets lit up on Opening Day.

OPENING SERIES 2014 - Washington Nationals @ New York Mets

Strasberg will be pitching a perfect game and it will be broken by EYJ in the seventh when he STEALS 1st base, later Collins will say that is why he is in the line up for us.

Oh and the Mets win 1-0. As EYJ goes on and steals second, third and home.
