Let's have a little fun and be as imaginative as possible but realistic as well:
You are in the Lakers war room and making the basketball decisions. You have the responsibility of hiring our next coach, making the best of draft pick(assuming its top 5) as well as adding some free agents and bringing back whomever you're gonna bring back from our current roster, if anyone.
How are YOU approaching these Lakers going into the 2014-15 season?
3.) Let Gasol walk. Sign $7 mil of 1 year deals for whoever will take it. That leaves $17M to which again we can get a player in the $10-12M range and give the rest to some role players who want more than the min or go for a really good player in the $17M range.
Me personally, I would for for #3. If our goal is Love, there's really no point in keeping Gasol around. We can't have a frontline of Gasol and Love, that would be atrocious defensively.
-Let Gasol walk and bring back whoever we can for the minimum.
-Get a really good all-star caliber player with that $15-17M while keeping enough space for Love the following year. Most of these role players are expendable and if they keep us from getting the big fish then they're not worth it."
