143 players is a pretty small sample size.

Give it some time he'll break out. Last year for example he just had a hard time staying healthy.

I can see Bryce Harper drawing alot of ire from his fellow players. He's probably barely 21 at this point and he thinks he's the greatest thing to hit baseball in ever. The talent is there to go with it THO, Harper to Chicago 2019!

Jeter was never as outwardly cocky as Harper. Never got Jeter telling a reporter his question was a clown question.

One of four players in baseball history to have 9 WAR through his age 20 season.

    Those four players are
    Mel Ott
    Ty Cobb
    Mike Trout

    And Bryce Harper

Players aren't always the best at other player evaluation

Harper has been awesome, missed a little bit of time last year, but he has been great so far. But the expectations that have been created for him are out of his control.

Although, it is interesting that the majority of them think Mike Trout is the best player in the game, not Miggy.

    What was said about Harper
"Who's the most overrated player in MLB?
AL All-Star: "I like Bryce Harper. I think he's going to be really good. But the attention for him -- and for Puig, to a certain extent -- is overkill. It's just been hype so far."

I feel like Harper has also done the walk here.....133 OPS+, 9.0 rWAR this quickly. The guy is a very productive big leaguer. They are just waiting for him to have a 30 homer season I'm sure, but that will happen this year.

I think Harper is a nice blend between Mickey Mantle and Pete Rose

Pete Rose's effort on the field, and Mickey Mantle's athleticism. He is a pretty damn special player.

But I think a lot of this comes from him annoying other players....he can be pretty damn cocky at times. And that will irritate other players when you haven't really been around long enough.

If it wasn't for Trout, there'd be a lot more praise towards Harper. The guy is awesome though

Harper and Trout both will win MVP's this year. Trout will continue his dominant play and I feel that Harper is really going to ascend this season.
    Yankees - Jets - Rockets

Harper is the real deal and if it weren't for Mike Trout, Harper would get even more attention. Not everyone can put up Mike Trout numbers.

Does he get a lot of hype? Yes but it is well deserved.

I think in 20 years, people will reflect on Harper and Trouts careers, and a majority of people would say Harper ended up being the better player in the end.

Would you be in favor of an MLB salary cap?
Yes: 6 percent; No: 94 percent

AL pitcher: "No way. That's a horrible question. If that's really a question, I am ending the interview right now."

When the baseball world is all talking about a player at 16, it seems that some people label him as a disappointment at 21!! That's absurd! Let the guy get his career under way for God's sake. He's a top 10 talent in the game........at 21 years old!

The ONLY weakness that I can see is, he can't hit lefties. But I'm sure that will change in time. He's just too good for that to be an issue his whole career.
