Wow, I'm actually shocked by the news. Assuming Hale made the team we have Teheran-Wood-Hale to open the season, apparently Santana will be ready to start the fourth of April (which I doubt) or we are close to acquiring another arm. Maybe they think schlosser is a better option, who knows. I'm really surprised.

@ajcbraves: #Braves apparently going with Schlosser in rotation. Garcia would've made $1.25M guaranteed if on OD roster. Frankly, I don't get this one

I'm pumped for Gus to get a chance. I've been pretty impressed by his spring so hopefully that will transfer into the summer.

I was really surprised by this as well. In saying that, I have no problem with the decision. I do, however, think that they must have some sort of back up plan. Whether it be someone like Aaron Harang or Erik Bedard (not saying these are better options) the Braves must believe that they will be able to nab someone else who is a better fit.

I just find it hard to believe they are confident enough in Gus Schlosser (him of 25 starts in AA and none in AAA) to start for the first month of the season. Hale is enough of a wild card, we don't need two.

I've never even heard of Gus Schlosser until today. Solid numbers in the minors. We'll see.

Because even though he isn't very good we are thin in the starting pitcher department to start the season and he would've been the only veteran on the staff, I think I'd rather have Harang so it was smart to leg him go. But it was somehow unexpected at the time.

He pitched great when we needed him in the playoffs.
