    Bears cut WR Earl Bennett

Per J.D. He declines pay cut and bears will cut him. He has no dead money so we owe him nothing and save in the range of 2 million. I'll post link when I can

@BradBiggs: Release of WR Earl Bennett as @ESPNChiBears reports would clear $2.45 million in cap space for #Bears and there is no dead money.

Cut Bennett and Weems, sign Jacoby Ford, and I feel pretty good about the wide receivers going into the draft.

Shame I love Earl but his inability to stay healthy and our depth at WR it's an easy call. I'm sure we'll draft another WR with some speed maybe kill 3 birds with 1 stone and get Dri/D'anthony Returns/RB/WR. This will give Wilson an opportunity to start getting some snaps and put B or Alshon in the slot for certain situations. I'd be shocked if we didn't add a speedy WR for the slot though.

Wish him luck, really think he could be a good player in a different system. Also, thanks for being the only reliable wide receiver on our roster in the pre-Marshall years. Godspeed

I would have been happy to keep him, but with that savings there is flexibilty to do more in other positions of greater need. Earl was a very good clutch possession receiver, his biggest problem was always staying on the field.

Bears offer Earl Bennett pay cut, he declines

Sammy Watkins falls to 14 and the Bears snap him up quick. Bank it.

But seriously I see no way he gets past 7. The guy is too good.

We are so set up to take a DT that we can rely on right away, it's not even funny
