To count a guy, maybe the rule should be most PA's in his career with your team, or most innings (so the Phillies would deserve Carlton, the Mets get Beltran, the Braves get Maddux, etc).

Two of my favorite HOF'er are, Ducky and Frankie Frisch! I believe I have both of their autographs in my big box of memorabilia.

Ducky Medwick is the last NL triple crown winner. The Gashouse Gang!

By the way, very nice call on "The Cat"! Very good and under appreciated guy who we don't hear about too often.

Seaver? Come on His time with the White Sox (2 and a couple months) he was barely above average. Really there was no better pitcher than 40 year old tom seaver? Hell Jack MacDowell is better than 40 year old seaver.

Save thing with Thome. Really you are going to take a 36 year old thome over luzinski or bains in their prime? Hell put big frank at DH and 1B can be Konerko.

Simmons would be a great choice for the Athletics.

That's a little stiff there. Maddux definitely can be two... Reggie Jackson. Hell three teams can really claim him. Beltran has what 200 more ABs with the Mets than the Royals?

I think the rule should be If this player went to the hall it wouldn't be ridiculous for him to wear your hat.

One rule I like if you are going for the whole team is if you are putting in RPs they have to be RPs.

with seaver, was like one of the first few names i could think of at the time, wasnt really focused on this

with thome-absolutely ,jim's ops+ with us was 138,which is much, much higher than anyone to ever play dh for us not named thomas.thome even at his old age was better than lugs ;and baines as the longevity on his side,i just went with the better peak while here

Well I'm going to break some rules here and try to optimize this thing.

    C: Jason Kendall
    1B: Willie Stargell
    2B: Arky Vaughan
    3B: Pie Traynor
    SS: Honus Wagner
    LF: Ralph Kiner
    CF: Barry Bonds
    RF: Roberto Clemente
    SP: Bob Friend

I know those aren't everyone's true positions but I'm not sitting Vaughan or Wagner and Pirate Bonds could cover CF. As for the rest of the pitchers and bench I'll have to think.

You are right about SP with the Pirates. It's gonna be tough to find 4 more really good pitchers after 1903.

    C- Berra/Howard/Munson
    1B- Gehrig/Mattingly
    2B- Cano/ Tony Lazzeri
    3B- A-rod/Nettles
    SS-Jeter/Rizzuto
    RF- Ruth/Jackson
    CF- Mantle/Bernie
LF- Dimaggio/Maris(more because I like him a lot)

    SP- Whitey Ford/Ron Guidry/Pettitte/Lefty Gomez/ Mussina
I'd add prime El Duque if people think Mussina isn't fair. Didn't add Clemens because I thought some would take issue

    RP- Mo/Goose/Righetti/Robertson/Stanton

That's 26. Drop whichever catcher you wouldn't take

    My Lineup would probably be

    LF- Dimaggio
    3B- A-rod
    DH- Ruth
    1B- Gehrig
    CF- Mantle
    2B-Lazzeri
    RF- Reggie
    C- Berra
    SS- Jeter
