ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed unrestricted free agent CB Tarell Brown, General Manager Reggie McKenzie announced Friday.

Brown comes across the Bay from the San Francisco 49ers, where he spent the first seven seasons of his career. His career totals include 100 games played with 47 starts, 213 tackles (177 solo), 11 interceptions, 56 passes defensed and two fumble recoveries. In 2007, Brown received the 49ers’ Tomas Herrion Award, honoring the rookie or first-year player who has taken advantage of every opportunity, turned it into a positive and made their dream come true. The award is voted on by the coaches.

Since becoming a full-time starter and mainstay at cornerback for the 49ers in 2011, Brown has appeared in 45 games with 42 starts, 143 tackles (114 solo), six interceptions, 40 passes defensed and two fumble recoveries.

The 5-foot-10, 193-pounder has also come up big for San Francisco in the postseason. In eight postseason starts from 2011-13, Brown has posted 32 tackles (28 solo), two interceptions, seven passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

The Mesquite, Texas native was originally drafted by the 49ers in the fifth round (147th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft out of the University of Texas. Brown played in 47 games with 35 starts for the Longhorns, totaling 169 tackles three interceptions, 20 passes defensed, one sack, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. In 2005, he helped the Longhorns win the BCS National Championship.

He is a cheap corner not a bad sign he should have been real cheap. Good for depth was with the niners

And you are what your record says you are.
Sure liked the two years before DA and RM 1 game away from playoffs.
And some say we are better off today.

Brown and Hayden both play the same side. I wonder who is switching sides.
