Steve Nash: "I'm not going to retire because, well, I want the money."

    'The Finish Line,' Episode 3:

"It's just a reality. I'm not going to retire because, well, I want the money."

We all know this is a big reason he is not retiring, but should he have come out and actually stated that?

Not much anyone can do. It's a contract. They can't just rescind it because he won't retire lol. Like above said, at least he's being honest

I can appreciate his honesty. At the end of the day it's always about the money. Fans kill me with the comments about how selfish players are. Criticizing people for doing what all of us would do in that position.

Wow this looks bad. He could have said I love the game and I want to go out on my terms. If he cares about the money more than playing then its really a shame medical retirement is no longer an option - he could still get his money and we potentially could get that eyesore of a contract off our books.

Of course it's about the money. It's exactly why he managed to squeeze out 10 games this season.

i have no problem with what he said. especially when you watch it in full context.

he said he's also willing to come in and work every day and bust his *** to get back into play condition. he could easily just go in and ride it out with minimal effort and still get paid. he has a right to his contract, the FO has the right to use the stretch provision if they want.

general publics gotta get off the backs of individuals who are walking away with 4.5 million dollars after taxes (like Nash this season). steve nash is rich, he's not wealthy. he's not an owner.
