Dolphins close to re-signing Randy Starks

It's LaCanfora, so take it with a huge grain of salt given he's a hack.... but none the less I didn't see it posted.

According to CBS Sports, the Dolphins are close to re-signing DT Randy Starks.
Per Jason La Canfora, the deal will be worth around $6 million per season. Starks has been a highly effective run-stuffer for the Dolphins and will pair with newly-signed Earl Mitchell in that role next year. Paul Soliai has bolted for the Falcons.

Wow, talk about unexpected. I thought that there was about a 30% chance that Soliai stayed and about a -60% chance that Starks did. I think this deal gets done shortly...man it was strange reading this first thing when I wake up.

Albert/Mitchell/Grimes/Starks(potentially)/Martin to SF/Delmas...Hickey is the f'ng man so far! So impressed that they have gotten their man at a good price (everyone but Albert was at a fair market value and not a dollar more)...and early in free agency. Big thumbs up from me.
    Thanks again Phins1983!!!

I am also shocked at this news. I would have thought Soliai would be kept over Starks as well. But Starks has more flexibility in our scheme and can pressure the QB more than Soliai. Plus if we decide to do more 3-4 packages, heís better suited as well.

Iím not going to be upset at all if we sign him back . . . just depends how much guaranteed cash is involved for a 30 y.o. DT.

If this happens, then our Dline is all set going into the year. One less thing to worry about.

Wow, totally didnít see that coming. I definitely thought they were going to resign Soliai. Maybe Starks looked at his other offers and didnít like what he saw? Either way, Iím happy to have him back.

I will say though, our run defense will suffer. Soliai really was the cog in that. Starks, Odrick, and Mitchell arenít really run stopping specialists so weíll see what happens.

I think Mitchell will do fine for us, I'm really excited by that signing... Actually really excited about all our signings so far in free agency, really pleased at the work Hickey has done so far.

Not half bad for a guy who wasn't even in the top 5 finalists for the job.

Apparently Starks deal will be under 6 million a year. If so, bravo to Hickey. That man is doing work.

Still waiting to see if he signs and how long to deal is. Anything under 6 is right on market value and getting him back is a need for our run D.

Yep, here's another one from Ian Rapoport on Roto

The Dolphins are finalizing a deal to re-sign free agent DT Randy Starks.
CBS' Jason La Canfora previously reported the deal will be worth around $6 million annually. Expect a formal announcement by Wednesday afternoon. Re-signing Starks was a priority for the Dolphins, especially after they lost Paul Soliai to the Falcons.

    I'm really happy about this.

Starks has been a rock for us for awhile, and it keeps our 3 man rotation in tact. I thought Starks was a much more effective player last season than soliai also.

Starks right at market value at 6m APY like the rest of the top DTs are getting. Love that it's only two seasons, should get two sold years from him.

And with that, our defensive line is set. Only defensive needs now are potential ILB and potential CB. I hope they resign Patterson.
