Gamethread: New York Knicks @ Boston Celtics - Early St. Patrick's Day Drinking

    Saturday Wednesday 12th
    @
    7:30 PM ET
    TV:MSG
    TD Garden

    Your New York Knicks!

Chef Ray Ray / JR Smith / CarMelo Anthony / Stoudamire / Tyson Chandler

    Boston Celtics

Rajon Rondo / Jerryd Bayless / Jeff Green / Brandon Bass / Kris Humphries

    Knick Updates

Andrea Bargnani said he still has soreness in his elbow and he could miss the rest of the season. One of the team-friendly reports coming out from the New York Post was that Bargnani could return two weeks after the All Star break, but that was probably smoke to make the Knicks appear less desperate for a power forward. There is no official timetable for his return and he's probably done for the year at this rate.

Heís one of those players, one of the few players who can do that.Ē

They don't really have any bigs anyway. I might even prefer letting Tyler bang down low with Humphries and Sullinger - those are the JJ Hickson types that typically bully and own Amare on the glass for 20-20 games. Their bigs aren't very talented so we should be fine.

Sullinger is good. Humpries is solid on the boards too. So our bigs are Tyler and Aldrich

we only play 2 games in the next 8 days and Amare needs a rest day?

That seems odd considering Tyson, Kmart & Bargs are out and how big a game this is.

Just when Amare was starting to look fast again and was actually being a PLUS on the team... hope we don't hear about another surgery being needed in the next few days.

Amare has talked about playing more but this is an odd one - Knicks call it recovery but no game last night or tomorrow. Knee trouble?

Those guys are bully ball rebounders. Give me Cole and Tyler to bang with those guys all day over Amare getting ragdolled.

I still have nightmares of JJ Hickson, Tyler Hansbrough, and Drew Gooden putting up MVP performances against an Amare-led frontcourt in 2011. Humphries used to have field days against him too. The Sullingers and Humphries are exactly the type of frontcourt players Amare should never go near - I'd rather take hustle bigs who don't get ragdolled and will bang with you in the paint against hustle bigs who try to ragdoll you and bang in the paint. Not a skinny finesse scoring big.

Definitely sounds a lot like the injury after the OKC game last year after Amare went on a tear.
